I agree with you. With the mask on, they seem more intimidating because you don't know what they look like underneath. Without the mask, they're just a normal person essentially.

i never thought of it that way... but boba fett no helmet... never would have been the same. Darth vader. storm troopers all less intimidating.... maybe its because they are wearing armor and it looks funny without the helmet? hmmmm thought provoking

Think about the first time we really see Anakin in the original trilogy. Not the back of his head in Empire, but when Luke takes off 'Vader's helmet to reveal someone who doesn't look intimidating at all.

Vanity Fair reports that she is playing Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, a leading member of the resistance (.....which definitely is not the "Mara Jade in Everything But Name character that I was expecting)

So Del Torro's character's name is never revealed but referred to by some fake name. It doesn't discount my theory but it doesn't help it either. I thought maybe he'd be Ezra Bridger but that doesn't look like what I'd envision Ezra to wear.
Laura and some of the other characters really give me a prequel vibe. I really like that we are starting to see Lucasfilm neatly weave the two eras together.

Star Wars is one of those things that I feel like I was never without. Sure, I was born over 14 years from the first film premiering, but in my mind, Star Wars was always there, in a sense. My dad had the 1995 original trilogy box set, and it felt like he would watch a movie every Saturday morning while working out (well, maybe not every Saturday, but there were certainly a lot of them). I'd walk into the office/gym and sit down next to the TV to watch. I was transfixed.
Happy 40th birthday, Star Wars. May the next 40 be good to you, and involve a re-release of the original unaltered films (please, Disney, do this).
