Hi, please correct or delete If I am wrong as it has been over a year since I've been to Disney :( first baby due in 3 weeks so no Disney World until next year for me, (Disney Land Paris in November though so some Disney.)

From my understanding and memory where star tours is currently located isn't going to be near to Star Wars land, if so whats going to happen to star tours? its out of place to have a Star Wars land and then a Star Wars ride just lingering about somewhere else in Hollywood studios, if so I would like to see star tours become Iron Man experience like in Hong Kong?

What do you guys think, and am I right about star tours not being in Star Wars land?

thanks
craig.

At DHS, Star Tours will indeed not be in the SWLand. Muppet Square will separate it from SWL.

Since the completion of SWL is still 2 - 2 1/2 years away, what will become of STours has not been set in stone. There is no definite replacement for it, as far as we know Disney knows. This means, it will live there forever until they pull a trigger to retheme the ride or to demolish it to make way for something else. However, there is a tentative 'plan' that it will indeed be rethemed with... something else... maybe... or go ahead and demolish it... maybe...

So, why not move it to SWL or find a way to connect it? Because it will be a bit redundant and completely underwhelming when compared to the two new E-Ticket rides coming to SWL.

They cant add Iron Man themed rides to any Disney park in Florida due to the contract MARVEL has with Universal.

There are rumors on the DL side of things that theirs might be relocated to DCA with a new theme. It did get me wondering what will happen with the DHS one.

I really don't get why they would be ok with a "big" Star Wars upgrade in the parks putting in 2 new Star Wars rides and removing the one that's already there.

Anxiously awaiting news of its fate on both coasts.

Here's what will Probably happen so listen up!
  • SWL WILL NOT HAVE STAR TOURS (BOTH COST)
  • ST IS LIKELY TO STAY BUT HAVE A NEW THEME (DHS)
  • ST IS LIKELY TO MOVE TO DCA WITH A NEW THEME (DLR)
  • ST IS LIKELY TO BECOME EXTINCT (IF 2 & 3 DONT HAPPEN)

I do think it's a shame they couldn't work ST into the plans, but I guess that's maybe why Echo Lake was the original location for the land. While ST will pale in comparison to the new attractions, it would still help with capacity.

Since it's a simulator it wouldn't be that difficult to retheme, so I would hope they simply determine another franchise that could fit into the future plans for that part of the park. Of course this is the same Disney that doesn't seem to see the capacity issues that exist now and will only worsen (GMR?), so I also wouldn't be surprised if they leveled ST or let it sit dormant.

Doubt anything will be announced until we're much closer to the land opening, and they may even try to ride it out until some of the initial crowds die down. Interested to hear some ideas for the simulator that could actually fit that space.
