Hey everybody, i know that you know Star Tours is to be Renovated(if you didnt, it is) anyway, does anyone know what the new movie you watch while riding it would be ? I have no idea, i like the classicness of it now though, any news would be cool.

I dont have any official news but i was wondering if there is a possibility of them redoing the ride. Like instead of doing a sit down SIM. with pistons only, maybe doing a sort of Dinosaur type ride. I dont know how this would be done but itd be really a really fresh idea for the ride. I personally dont think that Star Tours is very entertaining, the movie and the movements just kinda "clank" you around. But thats just me. What's everyone elses thoughts?:)

If it does get redone, it will not be a simulator of the same type. Lucas only works with the best equipment, and he would not allow them to make a new Star Wars property using an old system.

Also, its not a FACT that the refurb is going to happen. Lucas simply said that he had talked to Disney about it.

There are several stories and rumors that you could find on this if you do a quick search. Supposedly something with Pod Racing is to be done. Whether this means changing half to that film and/or building a second theatre, or revamping the ride entirely as a new sensation, the guess is on. No one has confirmed anything yet.

HE might have been on bad terms with Eisner but who says hes on bad terms with Iger, hmmmmm.:) And even if there is a Star Tours renovation who says WDW is getting it and not DL?

Just a thought...Anyone think it could be a 3d ride similar to Spiderman??

Actually, yes. I was just coming here to post that.

I just finished reading an article on Lucas in the new Popular Mechanics, and it re-states his next project at the end. He is going to be releasing the Star Wars movies in 3d as soon as the theaters are ready to handle it. What better way to promote these 3d movies with a 3d ride? Of course, that would mean a complete gutting of the current attraction.

If what Lucas said is true, it will come to WDW's version first.

I would be very excited to see the star wars "ride" revamped, it's certainly time. I absolutely love the spiderman ride, so of course i would love to see something similar with star wars. :sohappy:

I would doubt it would be similar to it, not Lucas' style. 3d and it moves, is possible. Closely resembling Spiderman: not a chance.

Actually, every update of Star Wars that has come close to happening thus far has involved the same ride system. What would be upgraded is the audio and video systems, which are relatively archaic these days.

Highly likely that this is still the case. There is no room in the current show buildings at Disneyland or the Studios for a ride-through type system.

New digital (maybe 3-d) film, and digital audio.

Lee,

Have you heard any rumblings of a BRAND new type of Star Wars attraction? It really deserves something on the scale of a Spiderman/Everest budget.

It may be coincidence, but hearing Tony Baxter and George Lucas say something within 2 weeks time got me all giddy.

No. Everything I've heard of uses the existing (or updated but similar) ride system.

In that case, we won't be getting a new ride.
