Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to get some feedback on this since now that Episode III-Revenge of the Sith is complete, will there be a new Star Tours film in the works like was rumored a while back?

Wasn't the news about this sonething like George Lucas did not want to work with Eisner and therefore a new movie or update to the attraction was not going to happen?? Maybe now with Eisner out and Iger in, Lucas would be more willing to work with Disney again, especially if Iger reverses Eisner's decision to not renew with Pixar.

There have been tons of rumors floating around especially since George Lucas visited Star Tours a few weeks ago. I personally hope they gut the whole simulator thing as create something unique.

I don't think there would be any connection between Episode III and an update/redo
GL had made the comment in the past that he wasn’t going to do anything with Star Tours until Episode 1-3 were complete.

SO many reletionships are changing with Iger. Disney almost lost the heads of Miramax due to some poor PR skills with Eisner. Reportedly, the 2 guys who head Miramax were prepared to give up, leave Miramax, and start from scratch! That's pretty serious. I read yesterday that Iger is repairing those reletions and the guys are looking to stay. So maybe this is 1 reletionship that Iger can repair as well? It must be a tough job - cleaning up Eisner's mess. I don't envy Iger right now!

I'd love to see this ride get better. I'd also love to see a VR ride introduced in Disneyquest with some of the new movie aspects. :sohappy:

How about just shutting the attraction down and having a Star Wars meet and greet along with the shop? Who needs a ride when we can meet Darth Vader.... What i would like to see is a large screen techonolgy ride... Instead of what is there now, have something similar to Soarin... Except you are sitting in an X-Wing fighter or a transport or something... make it feel like you are really traveling through space....

Those deals are pretty much done. Bob and Harvey Weinstein, the heads of Miramax, are definitely out whether Eisner, Iger or Walt himself are heading the company. What's being worked out is who gets what when it comes to books, movies, developments, and so forth. What this means for Disney fans is fewer movies from the Disney corporation, but Miraxmax and Disney were so seperate brand-wise, it doesn't really matter.

What in the blue hell does renewing with Pixar or dealing with Miramax have to do with Lucas?

Lucas is notorious for only working on one project at a time. Episode 3 is done, but he is working on the new Indiana Jones movie now. Don't hold your breath for a refurb (rehab, yes of course, but not a refurb) of Star Tours for at least a few more years.

Star Tours

Not sure if anyone posted this or not. As of 3/16 there were walls around the left side of the entrance of Star Tours & the AT-AT was stripped down to it's metal frame only.

well, considering the LMAX project is done, and they have less funding than AK or EPCOT, it'd probably be a good money saver to redo an old attraction to make it really cool than to build a new attraction

The walls are due to an exterior refurb.

I'm not sure if you knew, but George Lucas was the "original" creator of Pixar. Ed Catmull came on board Lucas Films in 1979, and in 1986 he and Steve Jobs purchased the rights to LucasFilms' computer division and started an endeavor called PIXAR---which Lucas was the Brain Child for.

This is why Lucas has so much invested personally in Pixar.

I was also just trying to point out that maybe Iger is trying to heal some relations. If Lucas didn't like working with Eisner, he may rethink it now that Eisner isn't around. I didn't mean to get off topic! Sorry!

If here is one thing we know about Lucas, it is that he loves to fix up old projects to keep up with new technology. He probably sees the outdated Star Tours as an embarassment to his entertainment empire. he will want to do something with it as soon as he has the time.
