Well, this is very wierd. We get reports of new motion testing along with possible new painting of the outside of the cabins, then nothing. Not for a while. Anybody know? This is really wierd.

All I know is that this ride needs to move into the new century. I love the queue and the area the ride is in, but I seriously hope they do change the actual ride after the new episodes are completed.

It would be a serious shame if Mr Lucas did not let this happen.

But I do love Chewie trying to put on his seatbelt. They should keep that! :)

Star tours is ripe for an upgrade. They could easily work in a pod racing format from Edisode 1 or go with a plot line of getting caught up in the final battle scene or even the bounty hunter chase scene from Episode 2.

Don't get me wrong, i enjoyed Star Tours, however modern technology has left it behind and it's starting to look a little dated.

How many simulators do they have in Star Tours? Is it four? Anyway, I always thought it would have been cool if they would have had a different adventure for each simulator. Back when Star Tours first opened, I think that was the eventual plan. I'm not sure what happened with that. But since the technology has made leaps and bounds since Star Tours opened, I don't think it would be nearly as huge an undertaking as it would have been back then. In fact, an alternative to one adventure per simlulator would be to just have five or six random adventures period. That way you would never know, until the ride started, which adventure you were getting. I know that when the attraction was first built, I remember reading articles about what a pain it was for the Imagineers to synchronize the simulator movements to the on screen action (from what I recall, they couldn't program it while watching the movie for some reason, so it was all about timing it perfectly). But I don't think that is an issue anymore, especially when you consider that Cyberspace Mountain does it within moments.

Believe me, I really don't think Lucas would be against it, if anything, hed be pushing it. Eisner on the other hand.....

Speaking of Star Tours, I didn't know it was the first motion simulator ever, I believe I heard this on the Travel Channel.

And speaking of the Queue, I think I enjoy the Queue more than the ride!

I'd love to see a new "something" for Star Tours, but I'll bet that I won't.....

And how would that happen at Disney?

Not the budget-cutting, clone-wanting, must-make-stock-holders-happy-by-fourth-quarter Disney, I'll assure you that.

I'm all for Disney, but even I know that people would go on it over and over again with only one movie, so why put the extra effort (read: money) into something like that, which would be noticed by a few people? Granted, it's a cool idea, but it won't fly.

Personally, I'd like to see something big happen. Even in WDW, they could re-theme the outside, inside, and ride itself. I'm all for that, as long as they do it soon.

AMEN to that! I go on that ride for the queue more than the ride. Awesome atmosphere in there!:)

This ride needs a major face lift or a new scene. I think that this ride is the 2nd best in the whole park. If Gerge Lucas dosent allow disney to make a different scenario he will be making a HUGE mistake. I think that the que is awesome and definetly one of the best, but the episode is to old. I think maybe a pod racer theme or they can go back and update there old scenario. Whatever the do the really need something

I only hope... if they do something to it... that they make it just as good or better than it is now.. even though the technology maybe outdated.. it is still a very popular attraction at the studios.. it even has fast pass :) I see alot of good ideas floating around here.. :)

dont all start getting on @ Mr Lucas

from what i ahve read before he is more than happy to do a new ride and i think he thinks it is necessary as well. but he has a few conditions before it he will do it

i read somewhere that he will only do it if Disney is prepared to upgrade the technology of the simulators - the sound system screens etc.

if they are willing to do this then he is willing to make a new film - i am sure he has plnty ideas up his sleave.

it all comes back to money thing - in order for george to do it disney need to spend cash on upgrades (oh and am pretty sure the ride video wont come cheep)

I agree with the point above that keeping some simulators with the existing ride is a good idea that sounds gd and adds to the realism(maybe the wrong word) of it all - i mean how many tour companies offer only one tour to one place - there is more than endor in the galaxy after all!!!!!!!!!

i do think however Jar Jar shoudle be the pilot in te new episode though think of the fun with him flying

i heard a rumor that lucas was willing to chip in the new adventure for star tours for free if disney would comply and upgrade the specific features lucas asked for. in disneys defense though i do believe the features lucas asked for were pretty expensive and many.

who know....

I agree about the need for maybe a little 'cleaning up' for the ride. Something different could be cool, but personally I hate the new prequel dreck that Star Wars has become. I'd like them to do something new, but with the volume 4-6 Star Wars timeline. But that's just me. I like the old original designs and look much better than the new 'past' of SW. I really don't want to see Jar Jar while standing in line wishing meesa a good flight.

Hey everyone,

I don't think that either Disney or Lucas are opposed to changing Star Tours from it's present format to something more up to date. Star Tours could be a huge success for both parties if done correctly. I think at the moment though both parties are waiting on Lucas. He's in the middle of the fourth Indiana Jones Movie (at least from what the LA Times is reporting) and again Star Wars. Just like when the original Star Tours was created, I'm sure Lucas wants to be hands on with the new one, but it's just not possible with being hands on already with two feature movies.
