This is my very first post, so I apologize if I'm not posting in the correct spot. My family and I will be traveling to WDW next month and I'm just wondering exactly how the standby line works for Anna and Elsa? Meeting them is #1 on both of my daughter's lists. TIA! :)

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
First off Welcome!!! :)
If you want to do the stand by line and not FP+ I recommend getting to the park at rope drop, and going immediately to A&E to wait in line. You still may have a really long wait but you may luck out and get in pretty quick if you go straight there.
Any other time of day your waits will be extremely long like almost 2 hours or more long! Lol :)

Same way as stand-by for any other line. You get in line and you wait patiently (very patiently in some cases). It's a long, slow moving line with not much to look at (until the last 10-15 minutes when you get inside the building).

In addition to getting there early, you could also try really late. We were at the park in March and stuck around after Wishes for some late rides. Around 11 pm/12 am I feel like I remember the line being pretty reasonable (15-20 mins). Not sure if during this time of year with people naturally being at the park later for the night time events if the lines would get that short though.

If at all possible, use a FastPass for this one (if you can still snag a FastPass). It was a welcome relief for us to pass by a 120 minute line of screaming/crying little girls and their impatient parents when we stopped in a few months ago...

I HIGHLY recommend getting to Anna and Else right before 11pm. We were told by a cast member that would be the best time to wait. It took us 20 minutes to meet them. Just be quick, because they usually close the line earlier then the park closes. Also, we were told the best time to see Micky is right after the light parade. You might miss the beginning of the fireworks, but there will be only a couple people in front of you. Good luck!

Was there just over a week ago and was prepared to wait however long to meet Queen Elsa. The wait was 20 min. Fantastic. I took that as a total fluke tho. We had no plan. Just checked the wait times any time we walked by the area.

The waits do seem to be reducing gradually over the months. I don't think the waits are as frequently triple digit times as they once were a year ago.

This is from May 2014. 300 minute wait time. I had overheard a mother telling her 2 girls that daddy was waiting in line while they did the other things. I have WDW lines app on my phone. Wait time right now is listed as 75 minutes.

Yes 75 minutes is more typical these days it seems.

There is a big difference between waiting for 75 minutes and waiting 120 minutes. Ask any parents. Not all the minutes in line are equal.... The initial hour of waiting is far easier than the subsequent ones!

From what I have heard, early evening from 7pm to 9pm can occasionally see much more moderate times, more like 40 minutes, which is manageable for most kids.

That wait time is only going to reduce the later it gets, but you could obviously face the possibility of your child getting overtired and not really enjoying the experience as much as during the day.

Download one of the wait time apps and watch for what time of day seems best. Always first thing in the morning and then things don't tend to slow down until fireworks. Undercover Tourist gives you the wait time and shows how they fluctuate by hour during the day.
