Happy Saint Patty's day all! It's too hot today to go to the parades and catch cabbage, carrots, potatoes and beads. So I'll just put on green later on this evening.

HAPPY ST. PATTYS DAY!!!!

I went to the parade in NYC yesterday. I had a good time. So today doesn't feel like St. Pattys day but I will still put on the green. :animwink:

Im from belfast in N.ireland and up here protestants cant celebrate it due to the it being turned into an secterian festival we are part of the U.k were the union jack is flown but all around around are streets we are subjected to the tricolour. As i have said i was bought by catholic paretns who tought me to be protestant and sent me to a protest school while the rest of the family goes to catholic schools. I have never celebrated and most likely never will due to the hatred here for each side. Last night a mate of mine was stabed for wearing a football which said rangers just beacuse it was st patricks day. The place were i live is in hell. I was taught that st. patrick day was a day for bothsides but it never has been and most likely never will be.

interesting.... I thought it was a generalized Irish celebration. Now that I think about it, only Catholics believe in Saints... so, is it only a Catholic celebration? I´m confused, and to be honest with you, I don´t even know how the celebration goes. I just saw my friends getting drunk on that day...

no its meant to be celebration for both sides but it has been highjacked. They would usally seek funding of the local concil r for it but they had to seek there own this yaer as it was ruled as an secterian festival i would to celebrate it because i belive st patricks veiws are more protestant than catholic i studied him in a local bible group and his views really were more protestant than catholic. I have nothin against the catholic comminuty but i do have a certain amount of hatred agaisnt them due to my biological parents being killed in am ira bomb attack. Another thing which also enraged me yesterday was wacthing the news and seeing the tricoulour being flown in london that just made me bitter.

The IRA is Catholic? I´m sorry I´m so ignorant about this.... My friends from UK explained to all of us these things, but after two years of that, it is all confusing....

Yeh it stands for the Irish republican army but they are not that brave they hide behind polications. They are nothing but scum they beilve in fighting for the good of ireland but if killing two innocent people means that u are hard well then i guess they are. I was never even given any sorry from there repersentives fro the killing of my parents. It was refered to as a terroist action and nothing was ever done about it im the last reaming member of my family and this haunts me every single day of my life. When ever i go to a club i also look behind me because i am scared too many people over here have died fighting for what they call an untied ireland.,But they dont seem to understand that even the people down south diont want them if they get an united ireland they will have to pay for the health service and they cant live of the goverment they say hate the queen but yet they take her money.
