well wdw running fam. -
its that time of year again. for the annual trek to Nashville for the country music Marathon and half
just hoping this year it was not a total mess like last year.. so with out further or do let get to rocking
Nashville shall we... - Friday morning , My parents and I Arrived at the expo for the country music event.
this year it was in the new (spectacular ) Music city center , right behind Bridgestone arena , and right next to our hotel.. score.. so that was a plus.. , since Nashville was so crowded for this years race.. . First off we walk in to the center and wow , just marvel at the beauty and space in this place compared to the convention center last year. We find our way to the expo upstairs. Moms taking picture , like any parent would, we find my packet pick up corral line .. get up there .. and the ladies giving me the spill . I said ive been here last year so she cuts it short .. - lol . and after I get my packet , and bag and stuff , I had to go find the corral change table.. , see bc last year I ran it just over 2:00 , but this year they had me in the back of the pack so I had to get that switched . so I moved from 30. to corral 10. after that was done, we moved in to the expo part . , this years expo was better than last year. , I don't know if had to do with the space or what .. but they had a lot more stuff . for instance this year they had the brooks run happy island interactive area. , that was a nice touch... what you did was you registered and got a passport and played games and got stamps and won prizes. and you even got a prize for just getting a passport. so much fun! . Next up was the team chocolate milk booth .. which was fun too . , got a pic made . and played trivia and won a chocolate milk towel . then after that was the team geico booth . where again you had to register to play a game and if you won .. you got to be on the team and got a shirt and everything well .. I was close but didn't win .. but got a bag for playing. , needless to say I racked up on the stuff this year. so next I made my best investment of the trip and to help my running in the future .. and that was compression sleeves. they are so AWSOME!!!!, I don't know why I didn't think of getting them sooner. ,
Lets just say after the race and today I can walk with no soreness or pain. . more on that later ,
SO we walked alittle . and found some samples .. and Next comes the best surprise ever!// we found the rundisney booth. , so since im planning on running tower of terror in 2015 . I thought I would ask the cast member if they had any info about when restration would open. so me and my mom went over I got a few pins and I was asking her some questions about tot!, and she looks at me .. I had on my Disney stuff from Jan. and I ask her she goes let me go ask ill be right back.. Not even thinking what I have on.. , she has something in her hand.. and she gives me a spill and hands me the run Disney sling bag. , mind you I didn't register for a race. I was shocked its very nice.. , shes like heres a little gift since you wore your run Disney stuff .. me and mom both walked away in awe! .. she gave mom a run Disney cloth bag.. , we now have 2 of those lol. but we left with 4 bags.. , so after that we left the expo .. and went back to the hotel .. and went to get something eat! --

Next installment :a Beautiful day. to almost set a PR!

Great start! Glad you got lots of goodies at the expo. I'm so jealous you got the runDisney sling bag!!! That was so awesome of the expo worker to give it to you. :)

Looking forward to reading the rest!

sorry to keep you guys waiting , but bad storms last night - so I was advised not to get on the computer.. , so lets get this race under way shall we.. --

I woke up at 430 . got dressed and layed back down in the bed till 5. , since we were like near a stone throw away from the start line.. , this year they moved it to the heart of down town , which created a boston type atmosphere.. so I was in in corral 10. and I put my self in the front of the corral ... , just bc I like to get out ahead. if I I can.. just for breathing room. ( if some of you guys are fimular with Nashville and brodway. - , this year we went down , by the river and turned and came up by the Hampton inn , and by the country music hall of fame , and cut down the street , beside the new music city center , and then ran though the music city center tunnel and out back down toward the express way , cutting on the street by the mc donalds . , but any who. I was set . the horn went off and me and this other where the only 2 from the 2:00 corral to make it into the 1:55 corral by mile one! .. , and it was so cool that morning , I wasn't even running . I was like in a jog , we come around though the music city center and up by first Baptist church , then the cool part was they had it where you went by the later corrals , and then it was down hill. before I knew it we were at 5k -3.1 miles , and my track time was 28.49 , and so I was trucking. so I thought I would be able to beat 2.00( mind you they don't have clocks this year), on the course. next we rounded the corner , headed for music row. , this part last year was tough. , bc of the rain .. and wet . but this year it was easy. the bands on the course where great. by the time I knew it I was at 10k . - 6.2 miles . time for my track time .. - I hit that at 56.31 I was like I got this.. but this time I slowed up to take a cliff gel shot.. ( chocolate covered strawberry. )and that was the wrong move Because , I waited to long to get going after I took it , so it put me behind a little and I never recovered. next up was the 10 mile mark .. and the fiun part of the course. , bc we were near the end ..- but I hit it at 1.31.56 , and mind you I was still at a jog. and this was the spot in the course . where me and this one guy were running together and we heard the guy on the side walk say oh that's a big one .. , and ( talking about his dog's poop) and we just started Laughing and said yes that just what we wanted to hear! .. but as we wound our way back in to down town , around the round about , through the building, and on the on to the bridge . I waited to to late to start my sprint .. so that's what caused me to miss a Pr goal ... , but I finished in 2:02:30. and One day I will go under 2 if I have die trying! ... , and as of next year it will be my third year running .. so the family and I have decied to do it as st . jude hero. the after party was fun this year , a lot of people hung around , bc of the sunny nice weather compared to getting drenched last year!! .. ( pics to come when mom uploaded them to the computer)
