The current version of SSE is the worst yet, and that's really sad because I think they went into it with good intentions. A few things look better now, but the negatives overshadow the positives.

The new narration is awful, Judi Dench's annoying voice and moronic lines (thank the Phoenicians!) ruin the entire thing. The Jeremy Irons version was billions and billions of times better. Add that to the new descent, or lack thereof, and you've got a total waste of a ride.

It's an even bigger shame that descent could so easily be good again. The old space station is still there I believe, and the areas used for the former version's set pieces are still available to be utilized.

It's just that no one at Disney seems to care about EPCOT Center until it's time to add stupid cartoon characters to draw in unwelcome children. It's supposed to be the adult park, that's what made it so great once upon a time. It was different, now it's just more animated condescending rubbish.

The thing is that they moved the boy to the street scene where he would or should logically be in keeping with the story. We, as riders on a time machine, would not be seen or be targets of paper sales. We, to them, do not exist.

I admit that I was baffled, at first, but then it just made more sense to do what they do now. If you think about it, when they originally designed that scene, someone in imagineering had a bad day and didn't think detail. So they corrected the mistake and have received all kinds of grief for doing so. So much for the old days being perfect.

Oh, and btw, compared to Cronkite, Irons sounds like a screeching teenager at a rock concert. :)

It's just a shame that someone bothered to make a working animatronic, then have it not be seen properly.

Oh.... wait.

At least with this one you can actually see it moving, unlike some other unmentionable animatronic that shall remain nameless. This one has his back to us, yet-e is still moving like a kid selling papers.:joyfull:
