Anyone tried both Sprinkles and Crumbs? Any comparison between the two?

Sprinkles' red velvet cupcakes alone are worth the money/drive/my time, but Crumbs is good, too. Besides ice cream, Sprinkles only sells cupcakes, unlike Crumbs. I think Crumbs has a greater variety of cupcakes, but like I said, Sprinkles' red velvet cupcakes...

Odd that a cupcake store would have a prime waterfront location overlooking the springs like that.
They're also the biggest name in cupcakes (never thought I'd say that about a company), so they pretty much deserve the prominent location. And like @danlb_2000 said, if they're willing to pay for it and get involved with Disney enough contractually to be there, then it will be done.

I am sure a lot of vendors wanted that spot and negotiations were quite complex. Amazing that they were able to weave this tapestry together into a cohesive fabric. Isn't it?

Tapestry?

If a retailer wants a prominent spot and is willing to pay for it, then bam, they have it. There's no mystique to leasing a shopping mall.

Yes. True. But someone had to guide the process without alienating any vendors. This isn't a theme park where they control virtually everything. They have many different vendors to keep happy and these boards were full of doubters and doomers who said it couldn't be done. And none of them have apologised for being so wrong.

You see many of the same bandwagon jumpers all excited about Pandora now when not long ago they were all doom and gloom about it. And so it goes. Which is why I must stay.

They're fairly comparable. Crumbs are bigger/more cupcake for the same price. Sometimes Sprinkles can be a bit drier cake than Crumbs, but their frosting is always good. Sprinkles is very concerned with their aesthetic, in their cupcakes look very sleek with their signature break-your-teeth dot on top. Crumbs does filled cupcakes. Sprinkles does not. Sprinkles does ice cream and cookies. Crumbs doesn't do ice cream.

Essentially, Sprinkles is trying to expand their shipped baked goods and ice cream business and stay viable as the cupcake trend is somewhat over. DS allows them to introduce themselves to many more people, some of whom might ship some cupcakes or cookies. That's one reason for this location, plus they are counting on the summer and the ice cream business. The location was looked at to be a restaurant, but Sprinkles ended up there.

Thanks for the detailed summary! Sounds good :)
