Spring Time in Disney

I am trying to figure out if the spring time at Disney would be a good time to book a trip for my family and I. We have never been to Disney in the spring and are curious what the crowds are like. I traditionally go in the winter time between December and February, we like that time because it is less crowded and less expensive. So for all you Disney nuts out there, that have been to Disney in the spring. What did you think of that time, and would you recommed going within the April to May time frame. Thanks for an info, Happy Holidays. :xmas:

I have been in late April and in early May. My 2 cents:

When we went during the 3rd week of April, we were very surprised to learn that much of the NY/NJ area is on spring break that week (seemed really late to us, as ours is in early March!), so there were still some "spring breakers" there. Not real crowded, by WDW standards, but not as wide open as we had hoped. Also, that weekend was one of the "Grad Night" weekends, so that affected crowds and operating times as well.

I would recommend trying for the first week or so of May (really up until the 15th or so, or whenever Star Wars Weekends start). Spring break is over, no one is really out of school yet, and Epcot's flower and garden festival is really the only special thing happening; also, it's warm enough for the pool, but not yet roasting hot (usually!).

Happy planning!

We've been in May twice and plan to go again next year. The weather can be warm, but not HOT and the humidity is low. Typically it doesn't rain alot, but last year we had rain almost every day totalling about 10 inches of rain during our trip. We are being very optimistic that next year will be rain-free!!! The crowds are moderate. Sometimes you can walk right on an attraction, and sometimes there can be an hour or more wait. Our personal preference is to go in May when my daughter is out of college for the summer rather than going over Christmas break, spring break or the summer.

We went in May this year - 9th - 16th. It never rained on us during the day, but it did rain several times during the night. Days started out pleasant, but about 1 or 2:00, it got really hot. Some shops had air blowing down as you entered the doorways. I stood in that spot for a few minutes to cool down!!!

The crowds were great. We never stood in long lines, maybe 20 minutes was the longest line. We enjoyed that time frame so much, we're going back the first week of May in 2010. I did enjoy my winter trip (2nd week of December), because the weather was much more pleasant. We've also taken 3 fall trips in October (2nd week), which was our favorite time of year. We've not been in January or February, but we do want to try other times of the year - except for the summer months (I draw the line there!!!)

In talking of April-May, the later you wait in April the less likely you are to run into spring break crowds (or Easter crowds, for that matter). Grad nights will be popping up in May on the weekends.

Mid May is one of my favorite times to go. Weather is warm, crowds are manageable, it's a great way to start the summer season, even though it's still late spring.:animwink:
