Spring Break 2011

Soooo, here we are spring break...what to do...how bout go to Disney and use one of the days we have left on our passes. Momma and kiddos were in, so I booked us two nights at the French Quarter. Our plans were to stay 3/30 and 3/31 and check out on 4/1, but due to the rain when we woke up on Thursday morning and realized we didn't want to push a two year old in the stroller in a downpour and lightening storm, I went down to the lobby and booked another night so we could go to Epcot on Friday when the weather was supposed to beautiful. So we had three nights there. I'm not great at trip reports due to my lack of patience...lol, but I figured I'd go ahead and share a little bit of our pics and such since I always comment on everyone else's stuff and this way you know I'm not some creepy person lurking around here...lol.

First up check in....our room was ready so we walked around. We've stayed here two other times and we find it beautiful and peaceful. If you've never stayed here but thought about it...maybe these pics will help:

Love this next picture of Momma and DD:

And this one of us:

Our room was ready and soon as we got in my son decided he wanted to play on the beds, now I know they're supposed to be all upgraded to queens, but they sure didn't feel like queens to me....but I don't know, it could have been sleeping with my two year old....

Next up Chef Mickeys....sorry foodies, I forgot my camera and Momma wasn't taking pics of food....lol

Waiting at bus stop for the Magic Kingdom so we could monorail it to dinner....

CIMG6263.jpg

Next picture is my son mad that the bus that just left wasn't ours....lol

CIMG6265.jpg

Finally after two Hollywood studios buses, our bus got there and we were on our way...happy again....

Now waiting for dinner, here's the waiting area of Chef Mickey's....

Here I'm having a talk about behavior and being a good boy will get him the peter pan set he was wanting, not a flattering pic, but it's a good pic of the waiting area for those that never been:

Dinner time, my son was afraid of the characters:

A little pondering:

And life was good again:

Overall review of Chef Mickey's for dinner....go to breakfast there instead. The food was ok, it wasn't bad but it's soooo not worth the price. I know you're paying for the characters so I'd say save your money and go during a cheaper time like breakfast. Nothing on the dinner menu stood out. I liked Trails End better last time we ate there.
(I think that's what the buffet at Ft wilderness is called right?)

A rare family moment:
Do these beds look queen to you? They didn't feel like it...

CIMG6304.jpg

I shared this next pic b/c of the detail, my son is sitting on the A/C unit...look how Disney even decorates this...it's these little things that sets Disney resorts apart from the rest.....

CIMG6314.jpg

Next up was last Thursday, the rainy day...we decided to go to the Florida Mall this day instead of check out day (we had an appointment with the Apple folks to fix a broken I-pod touch), did a little Build-a-bear action, got some new crocs for the family and bought the kids some t-shirts at the disney store, alot cheaper than the parks for sure. That night we went to DTD to T-rex for dinner to meet some family that was there. We drove b/c of the rain. And then quickly came back to our room after dinner. Here's two pics from that day...

The one of the two kinds of characters my son likes...plastic...(the other is plush)

Quick comment on the fairies new meet-n-greet home in Epcot, I don't know if it was the day or what, but the wait times were nothing like when they were at the Magic Kingdom...just FYI for ya

Up next, last morning breakfast.....we at at the french quarters food court. We only ate breakfast here on this trip, so can't give you a good review. But I can tell you I didn't like their breakfast sausage. The mickey waffles rocked though, and even at the quickest speed/lowest heat the toasters always over cooked my bagel....The epcot day we had eaten at Sunshine Seasons for breakfast and it was pretty good, I'd rate it just a little better than the food court at POFQ.

CIMG6431.jpg

Last notes, the cast member who checked us in the first night at POFQ was the nicest I'd ever met at any Disney resort. She told me how happy she was that I was there and gave my daughter extra purple beads. She made us feel special. The resort was so clean. All the cast members there was super nice. LOVE LOVE LOVE POFQ. We used the bus system going to dinner the first night, then again for Epcot on Friday, never had a problem. I was actually quite pleased at Epcot to see where the bus station for this resort was. It was pretty close compared to the others. I'd like to thank all of you that I ran into on the buses during this short trip, every time someone offered their seat to me for my son. I appreciate this so much, (my son weights 40 lbs). Everyone, everywhere we went seemed so nice on this trip.

At Chef Mickey's our waitress didn't smile, she didn't talk other than to ask us our drink order, tell us the plates were up there, then later she said she'd take our check when we were ready. That was it, but I have to say she rocked it on refilling our cups and taking our dirty plates.

I'm really blessed to be a Florida resident and go often as I do, we bought the play for four days and we have one more day left before May. People wonder as much as I love it why I don't have the season pass, but not only is the pass pricey, so is gas, tolls, parking, and food for the day. I'm quite happy with going only three or four times a year to a park. :animwink: We'll probably do Magic Kingdom with our last day after the spring break crowds leave. And I have to give a big thank you to hubby for putting up with me always running to Disney with Mom and kids. (And footing the hotel bill for this trip)

Until then TTFN......
