I do really wonder, they've got to have Tom Holland as the lynchpin of a Young Avengers, right? Especially if Iman is gathering them up and trotting around due to proximity to New York City. If they didn't before, these conversations much be occurring, they really need that clout of that character. I mean, I guess the next Spiderman movie could actually just be SpiderMan + Friends.
I have mixed feelings about Tom Holland's Peter Parker being part of the Young Avengers, which he isn't in the comics. The Young Avengers are probably the most progressive superhero team at Marvel, with more than half the characters being LGBTQ. I would hate for this representation to be sidelined so that Spidey can steal the spotlight.

HOWEVER, from a purely financial perspective, I'm not sure the Young Avengers will be a major draw to the theaters. I love the team, but they are a relatively niche group. If adding Spider-man to the roster guarantees that the Young Avengers movie gets at least $800 million at the box office, it might be worth it in the long run. He wouldn't need to be the main character, just part of the group. I don't think the Young Avengers flopping at the box office would do representation any favors, so it might be worth adding Spider-man for some financial insurance.

Ms. Marvel isn't a Young Avenger in the comics either, but she's clearly being added to the MCU version.

In the comics the Young Avengers was formed by Ironlad — a young version of Kang the Conqueror who wants to prevent his future self from destroying the world. There haven't been any reports of Ironlad being cast yet, but with Kang seemingly being a major character in the MCU I could see him being cast soon.

However, they may swap out Iron lad with Riri Williams — aka Ironheart — who was introduced in Black: Panther Wakanda Forever and will be getting her own Disney Plus show. She's not a Young Avenger in the comics, but she's part of a similar teen hero group called the "Champtions." Since it would be redundant to have two Iron-man equse heroes on the team, I can easily see Riri Williams taking Ironlad's place. They could say she is a variant of Kang if they want to keep the Kang the conqueror connection.

Other members of the team include:

Kate Bishop — introduced in Hawkeye and featured at the end of the Marvels
Cassie Lang — played by Kathryn Newtown in Ant-man and the Wasp Quantumania
Wiccan is one of Wanda's children and one of the most famous gay characters in comics. He will be played by Heartstopper's Joe Locke in the upcoming Agatha: Coven of Chaos/Darkhold Diaries show.
Speed — Tommy, Wanda's other child and Wiccan's brother.
America Chavez — introduced in Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Patriot — introduced in Falcon and the Winter Soldier as Eli Bradley.

They haven't yet introduced Hulkling — a shapeshifting Kree-Skull hybrid who is also Wiccan's boyfriend. There will be major outcry if he isn't part of the team.

Marvel Boy/Noh-Varr, Young Loki and Prodigy are other Young Avengers members in the comics but I don't think they will be part of the MCU lineup.

Full disclosure I had absolutely zero idea who makes up the team in the comics. I do think if Spiderman comes along, it includes Zendaya and Jacob Batalon at least. Not to write fan fic, but Jacob/Ned would need to get to America Chavez and then it progresses fairly nicely for character retrieval from there.

America Chavez was actually supposed to appear in Spider-man: No Way Home. Before COVID-19 messed up the scheduling, Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was supposed to come out before No Way Home. In the original version of the movie, America Chavez would be living with Dr. Strange and have continued to have been learning magic from him and Wan. She would have used her powers to open the multiverse and bring Tobey McGuire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-men into the movie. But when Doctor Strange got moved to after No Way Home, they had to shoehorn in Ned suddenly becoming capable of magic to bring in Tobey and Andrew.

Here is some concept art of Chavez in No Way Home.

They did introduce Hulk's son though, who could also be added to this group instead of Hulkling.

It's a completely different character with a completely different power set. I think fans of the Young Avengers would be livid if Wiccan's boyfriend — who has ties to the Kree and the Skrull and eventually becomes a space emperor uniting the two races — was completely erased in favor of Hulk's son.

As a huge fan of the Young Avengers comics if they don't include the Wiccan/Hulkling pairing, I would say to avoid having the team altogether. I cannot stress how important these characters are to the gay community.

We'll see how Wiccan is portrayed in the upcoming Agatha D+ show, but I don't expect him to be much different than his comic counterpart.

So they may not introduce Hulkling right away, but I doubt they would "erase" him.

So, saw this over the weekend. Overall, it was pretty good. As others have said, I thought Ms. Marvel was incredible. I actually thought Brie Larson was REALLY good as well. And I think they've done a really great job at making someone as powerful as her have real weaknesses.

Now, there was a good deal I didn't like. I still can't quite figure out the crossing of their powers. Is it only when they use their arm powers? Cause Monica and Captain Marvel would both fly at the same time and they didn't change. Also, I felt lost on the villain. Ok, I get she's trying to save her planet. But, I was lost on why she's the one in charge, where she got the hammer, how she knew of these bracelets, etc. And, obviously, I'm WAY in the minority, but I HATED the singing planet. It just felt like it was thrown in there for cheap laughs. My last negative, I found I had 0 attachment to Monica. I found her holding a grudge for 20 years weird, and personally just didn't feel any connection to her story in this at all. For me, the movie just didn't build her nearly enough for her to make the big sacrifice.

SO, I know, a lot of negatives and not much on the positive side written down, but I'm not sure how to word my positive. I thought the actors did SUCH a good job, I really did enjoy it. And I'm not sure there's one scene I can point to for that, they just kept me really engaged and entertained for the most part. And in the end, that's what I want from the movie. So, my summary, I think the direction/writing was not my cup of tea, but the acting (specifically Ms. Marvel and Captain Marvel) really made me enjoy the movie in the end. Far from the worst MCU I have seen, but not really at my top either (then again, my rankings are way different from a ton of fans, so take it for what it's worth).

Okay, FINALLY got to see this as it hit Disney+ today!

Amazing how they matched the most dour and least interesting super hero with an equal dour and uninteresting villain contrasted by the PURE FREAKING JOY that is Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel. 😍 😍 😍

I know they're trying for Young Avengers but what we really need is a Kamala Khan and Peter Parker adventure RIGHT NOW to join the two brightest lights in the MCU. (I'm good with adding America Chavez, too, as Xochitl Gomez turned out to be another total bundle of cuteness on Dancing with the Stars this past season whose adorableness didn't really get to be seen in MoM.) Plus Kamala's fam, who are just beyond wonderful. From the dad trying to sell someone on the importance of retirement planning while in the midst of a crisis on a space station to the mom being the most MOM of a character, caught between protectiveness and total support of her daughter, and the bro just being an awesome big bro just going with the flow - that family is... well... marvelous!

And having Monica as the competent science nerd ADULT in the room who was at heart just a kid trying to get over losing her mom and her aunt, and ultimately creating a new family in the process (eventually, when she gets back to her home universe), was great, too.

I thought the musical planet could've been a bigger thing and I know plenty of cosplayers who could have come up with a better princess dress for Captain Marvel with one hand tied behind their back, but the bilingual bit was hilarious.

Plus of course the actually guffawing out loud moments of flying flerkittens that was just everything. (Fury finding the kitties irresistible and constantly petting them was hysterical, too - did he not learn his lesson the first time?!) Oh, and I'm happy any time Tessa is onscreen and WISH they'd leaned in way more to her and Carol beyond a friendly kiss on the cheek. They are a fantastic couple waiting to happen and Valkyrie may be the only one who could help Carol lighten the heck up.

Frankly, the 30 minute version of this movie (taking out all of Dar-Benn & the Kree and the Skrulls and losing as much of Captain Marvel as possible and just leaving all the Ms. Marvel and Monica and flerkittens, etc.) would be just pure enjoyment.

I'd watch this again, but I wish I could have the version that just focused on the fun. I guess it's called "fast forward". lol
