I was totally digging the episode to about halfway+ through... then after the final conversation with Kang it just kinda... got muddled... spent a lot of time pondering what 'needs' to be done... I LOVED the scene between early Mobius and Loki... then there was a tree. It lost me for the last third or so.

So... Loki is now tree? Did anyone know this was an option going in?

So, he who remains never happened? I notice there was a scene with young Timely and no book came through the window, so no Timely...

Tree.

I’m wondering whether the “tree” is supposed to represent Yggdrasil from Norse mythology?

Sometimes nerdy stuff can get bogged down in exposition but I feel this episode would have benefited from clarifying the implication of what Loki did to preserve all the timelines (and how he was able to do so). It’s hard to get invested in stakes if you don’t even know the parameters under which the world is operating.

First half of this episode was excellent. And it’s great to see Loki get his “Groundhogs Day” growing by living a million lives thing. Just wish they sold the ending better.

Yeah, I really enjoyed the first half, most I've enjoyed an episode this season... then tree. Did they explain or hint at how Loki didn't skettify? Something he learned during the 100's of years becoming a TVA/time expert?

I completely agree. I was like, ok they're going to nail the ending, finally. And then it just felt a bit incomplete. I won't say it was bad, and maybe I need to watch it again because maybe I missed something. But it ended and I was like, uhhh now what? I think an end credit scene would have really benefited it for sure.

Loki now broke the cycle in hopes that the avengers will be able to stop all the Kang variants. He's taken he who remains spot to give the others a fighting chance. But there's a lot of whys that should have been better explained. Or at least give us a scene at the end of what is going to be happening next.

I took it just as he is a god so could handle it - vs Timely who was just a human - at least what I inferred when saying something like "in know how to be the god you need"

Yeah, so no Timely so I guess no He Who Remains but still Kang Variants including on 616

Ending just felt incomplete to me and like where does Loki go from here or is this his end or does he become He Who Remains?

And everything with Renslayer felt inconsequential

I don't know - it wasn't bad, just feel a little empty or lacking for me

I'd say this gives them an out for Loki. If they want to incorporate him back into the greater mcu, they can. Otherwise he can just be he who remains forever. I find it similar to what they did with Steve Rogers. They didn't kill him off, he's just old. Anytime they want they can very easily bring him back as younger Cap. Sure they can bring anyone back with time travel and the multiverse now. But this sort of wraps up Loki while giving him his greater purpose until they want to use him again.

I'm happy it wasn't a time loop. Well, not in the end.

A lot of people's theories were wrong. And I love that since from the beginning of MCU movies and series, people were trying to use their knowledge of the comics to pigeon hole the movies/series.

My favorite was the Ms Minutes was actually Ultron theory. The MCU during the infinity saga were masters of taking aspects of the comics, and adapting it to their own story. So while so many had an idea of where it would go, it always ended up slightly different. Civil war was mostly a story revolving around peter parker. They did a great job of adapting it with the framework they had, i.e. Tony Stark. So even when they tried to pigeon hold them, it didn't matter. They were still happy because the story beats were all there for the most part.

the finale was different what i expected. overall i thought the season was pretty good. with all the time splitting/time lines/time travel, etc, this is probably 1 of the trippiest shows i think i’ve seen since lost. not sure if another season is confirmed, but i hope it comes back.

Just watched the final episode and what a mess, I loved the first season, really disliked this one. I’m just not a fan of the multiverse storyline, it’s messy and confusing and nothing but loose ends. Disappointing.

We binged all 6 episodes last night. I loved it! It was pretty vague on the specifics, though. Some of my super geeky questions and observations (in no particular order):
  • How did the loom work? We went from trimming timelines to stitching them together, but wouldn't that have put multiple similar variants in the same timeline?
  • Why wasn't there more mention of Avengers variants (besides Loki)?
  • Is OB a Kang variant? (Can he be?)
  • I would pay big money to visit the pie automat. Build one of those at Avengers campus at DCA, please!
  • Sylvie just seemed sad to me, and much less Loki-like.
  • I don't think Renslayer is dead
  • Are there a bunch more variant Lokii now?
  • I love the theory that of Miss Minutes could be related to Ultron.
  • I thought the spaghettification effects were really cool.

Can I ask where this theory can from? I see it referenced numerous times in relation to the show and for the life of me how no idea how anyone came up with it nor how it got any traction.

Vloggers and their echo chamber.

Not only did they get that wrong, but they were mostly in lockstep saying that the whole series was an ouroborus (time loop). But in the end, Loki broke the loop, so, it wasn't.

I don't mind reading vlogger's explanation videos on a particular episode. They can be pretty enlightening. But their theories are usually trash. Especially their videos in between episodes that are full of speculation... often very wrong.

Don't give the theory/speculation videos the clicks. Else you'll see Mephisto everywhere.

I don't see anything wrong with fan theories and the channels that talk about them. We all know the bad ones so it's easy to avoid. I saw that theory on a channel called emergency awesome. I wouldn't call him an echo chamber, he's really just a comic nerd. The problem comes when you take a theory, latch on to it, and then you're disappointed if it's doesn't happen. I think it's fun to try and figure things out. The miss minutes theory was fairly clever. I didn't think it had a chance at being right, but clever none the less. The big problem comes when things like when, "what's your snoke theory" were big. The actual answer was worse than 90% of the theories. Lol

I think the whole thing was set up as an Ouroborus - heck the last episode had the same title as the very first episode... And that it would have just kept continuing with the TVA failing and being rebuilt, etc .... Except Loki showed growth and was able to break that
