For all the times people complained that an episode of Marvel/Star Wars was too short, I just rolled my eyes. But this time... it did seem too short. It could have use more character-driven dialogue to pad things out, IMO.

But... that didn't take away that it was still a good episode.

Tom Hiddleston and Ke Huy Quan were great as expected, but the episode was short yet filled with so much repetition that made it feel like about 7 minutes of content and 20-ish minutes of padding.

But at least there was very little Sylvie in the episode, so that was a plus.

Also, did I miss the explanation of why Hunter B-15 suddenly went from "you can't kill billions of people by pruning the timeline!!!" to "well, good luck with that!" Was it just "Kang will kill us all if we don't" and she just shrugs and goes, okay then?

(It probably doesn't help that I've binged both the excellent Fringe and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series recently enough that all the multiverse stuff here feels overly familiar. I feel like the multiverse is now hitting vampire-story saturation levels in pop culture. lol)

I accept at this point I'm just watching the show to see Tom Hiddleston in a new costume each week and to see how adorable Ke Huy Quan will be in his scenes (though it feels like we probably saw most of them already).

But it has been a problem in just about every D+ series. There were Mando episodes in the low 25 min range if you subtract the intro and credits. I'm not sure what's to eye roll about complaining that episodes are too short. You have these series, with very limited episodes, and Disney constantly is rushing the endings. So when we get these short episodes it can be annoying. This season is only 6 episodes again from what I've read, so they need to make the most of every episode.

I know it was Worlds Fair focused but I felt like Epcot got called out twice in this episode with a twist on “If we can dream it, we can do it,” and a diss against trying to distill an entire culture and history into a little pavilion.

A bit of Midwest geography nitpicking re: ep. 3.
  • Wisconsin is not "across the lake" from Chicago. Wisconsin is on the same side of the lake as Illinois. The only states on the opposite side are Michigan and Indiana.
  • Even if you ignore "across the lake" and assume they are really heading north to Wisconsin, we see the shoreline moving fore to aft along the starboard side of the ferry, meaning that they are actually heading south - which is neither "across the lake" nor in the direction of Wisconsin.
  • In addition to not knowing the position of the states relative to Chicago, they also don't seem to comprehend exactly how large Lake Michigan is. Even today, it takes a modern ferry hours to cross the lake, and it would take at least as long to go up the coast and cross the Wisconsin border, so even if we allow for a time skip of hours between the ferry scene and the lab scene, there's still no way Renslayer could have followed them in a rowboat.

I thought the episode was good. At this point I'm waiting for the season to end to really judge it. That's really going to be the make or break for me on this one. There's no episode that I would really go back and just watch that episode because it's a great episode. If the ending is great, it's a short enough show to go and binge again in one or two viewings. If the ending is a letdown, the show hasn't been strong enough for me to really care about it. It will just be another one and done.

It feels like a Doctor Who show. You're never really sure where it is going. I just hope Miss Minutes turns into Ultron.

slightly off topic, but i was hoping Quan would’ve made a cameo in the recent Indiana Jones movie, but he’s great on Loki. always manages to make me laugh a few times.
