I can't understand the critical panning.

I thought it was great. If you liked the previous Ant-Man movies, there's nothing to dislike.

Sure, it's not a comedy-heist like the first two, but, that's fine. It can get serious. Many comedic series of the past had a 'very special episode.'

And the Ant-Mans in the comics had to deal with some pretty serious spit... it wasn't all comedic relief.

At least the audience scores are good.

Visually stunning. See it in 3D.

Ant-man dies in the end and is replaced by his daughter.
I actually would have preferred Ant-man being killed off. It would have been a good way to up the stakes and establish Kang as a threat.

Anyway, the movie was perfectly fine. Not great, not the worst. I liked the sense of adventure. The cast was solid. The special effects were AWFUL (I've seen accurate comparisons to Spy Kids 3). The humor was hit or miss. Everything with M.O.D.O.K was way too silly.

I'd give it a 6/10.

I really have no clue why this movie didn’t do as well with ratings. Not the greatest MCU film, but far from the worst. I thought it was entertaining and fun, good introduction to Kang. Not as funny as the other Ant-Man films but higher stakes. Scott’s change in the film from being into celebrity and indifferent to helping others to being more altruistic and helping the quantum realm people in need was solid.

Posted in the spoiler-free thread, but I just saw Quantumania and I really enjoyed it! No need to repeat what I wrote there, but I thought it was a solid transition into the next phase. I think Jonathan Majors is an AMAZING actor and perfect for the role of Kang.

The movie was entertaining, but what I found is that my wife and I had the least to say about it afterwards. Usually we talk a little about the movie as we walk out. It was more just "I enjoyed it...what's for dinner?".

Like I couple here, I too felt the way they handled Kang at the end just didn't feel solid. I felt it was lacking for someone presumably to be the big bad moving forward. It did leave me a bit less excited than I was in the past with Thanos.

Since it was finally released on Disney+ I watched this tonight.

Every minute that Jonathan Majors was onscreen, I couldn't take my eyes off of him. He was absolutely fantastic.

Every other minute of the rest of this was like...

What appealed about Majors' performance here was how quiet, emotionally restrained and vulnerable it was. Aspects I'd also enjoyed when I watched him in Lovecraft Country.

It's easy to play loud and big and broad. It was a far more unexpected and interesting choice to play Kang (and He Who Remains) very... if you will excuse the expression... low key.

It was something I also loved about interacting with the character at Avengers Campus - he was so menacing just by being so so soft spoken.

watched it on disney+ tonight & i didn’t think it was that bad. not the best out if the 3. had a darker tone to it. too bad they didn’t have michael peña & co to add a bit more humor to it.
