Splitting stay

My husband and I are celebrating our 5 year anniversary at WDW over the 4th of July - I know its packed but we wanted to celebrate at the World. Anyway, we usually stay in a moderate hotel, but we wanted to do something a little special for the occasion. What do you think of splitting the stay (we are going for 4 nights) between Pop for the first two nights, and WL or AKL for the last two nights? Is it too short to move? How exactly does it work going from one to another? Do you get a taxi or can you use Disney transportation?
Any thoughts?

We're doing the same thing. We've both been really stressed at work and have found a way to get a 4-day weekend and got a code to use. We're doing 2 nights at CSR and then 2 at AKL (I could only justify 2 nights at more than double the price). She doesn't know I split the stay yet (it's her Valentine's Day present). So, in short, I don't think it's too short to move.

As for transportation, I've been told that the Bell Desk will take care of moving the luggage to the bell desk at AKL so that we can enjoy the day at the parks. Just check out when you leave for the day and your bags should be at the second hotel whenever you are ready to check in. I wouldn't recommend using disney transportation to go from one to the other with the bags yourself since you'll have to go to DTD or a park and switch. That would waste too much of your day.

I agree, check out, go to a park, front desk (bellhop) will get your bags and take them to your new hotel all while you are enjoying your vacation at the parks. People change resorts all the time. When you are ready to come in for the day, go to your new resort and the front desk will tell you your room number. If you want to know earlier than when you are actually walking in the door of the new resort, there is a number you call to see if your new room is ready. The front desk of the place you are checking out of can give you the card with the number to call.

Does anyone know if you can store your bags at the bell station for a couple of days? We are splitting our stay (staying at BCV for both stays), going from Wed to Wed but decided to visit the Gulf Coast on Friday and Saturday night (doing to save on VC points), coming back to BCV on Sunday night. I was thinking about taking just an overnight back for the Gulf weekend and leaving our main bags at BCV, as that is where we will be staying when we come back.

Thanks for input.

I attempted to do this when I booked our upcoming vacation. I wanted to stay at the Polynesian for the first night as a treat for my daughter's birthday/'Ohana breakfast the next morning. I was told that since I was booking a magic your way package with dining, I would have to book this as two separate packages. I would have to pay for one day park tickets, and one day dining plan costs for the time at Poly, then I could book the 5 day additional at Pop. Since $200 extra for the night at Poly was a big enough splurge, I didn't go for having all the additional expense of one day tickets as well. Now I'm reading here people change resorts frequently--do any of you have the magic your way package?
