I know they are adding new roller coaster-style gates to the end of the queue line to the idiots don't fall in the water...other than that, I would hope they are oiling the Audio-Animatronics and repainting. I can think of nothing else Splash requires...the logs definitely could use paint below the waterline....

well...ya gotta figure they went through the summer...sweaty people, stagnant 90º water...you'd think they'd use to 409 on these logs at night...apparently "refurbishment" really means "cleaning"...I get to ride nice, fresh-smelling logs in 34 days!

Re-painting, fixing all broken animatronics, making sure they are all in working order...cleaning...checking the ride system..adding the ride gates....stuff like that...

Maybe they will put in seat buckles...who knows...OR take away the "please remain in your vehicle"...though I heard that back in March...and haven't ridden it since. I hope if they haven't, to add in the Frog playing the Bass (next to Saddle Sore Swanson)..

Who has seat buckles on a log-flume ride? I've never heard of such a thing.

No, but don't you think we would like to avoid anyone falling out of a log and it being their fault anyway? Of course, they could just unbuckle themselves...

seat buckles would slow down the line too much. I've seen lap bars on log rides, but that would be attrocious on Splash...they tell you to stay in the boats and everyone is always on camera...so if anyone fell out, it would be their own fault...it's impossible to fly out of the log...unless your legs snapped off and the ride doesn't go fast enough to do that (all of 40 mph...)

Not if Disney themed the lap bar with the rest of the log. Quite frankly, I'd prefer having a lap bar. When I was riding it last week, there were these two kids in the front row who kept standing up during every drop (Including the big one) I was so freaking scared they were going to fall out, get hit by the oncoming log, and die. They rode it three times, the same as me, which made me really mad, because they did it every time. I was really mad when all three times, my picture didn't show up on the screen because (As a Cast Member put it) there was a safety hazard shown in the picture. There was also this family behind me who, once we got outside, all switched seats. I was already mad at the kids and had had enough, so I turned around and warned them about all the cameras hiden throughout the ride and suggested (In a very nice way) that they leave their prosteriour on the plastic and stay where they were. One of their daughters asked me if I was a Cast Member in disguise and I just smiled that sly-kinda smile and turned around. They didn't do anything after that. In conclusion, I'm all for lap bars. :sohappy:

Although nobody may have died on a Disney Log Flume I think people have in other parks. Anything that makes a ride a little safer can't be a bad thing. The fitting of seat belts sounds like a good idea to me and I would love the logs to be cleaned the smell males be want to:hurl:

Well, there was the gentleman who jumped out on the drop and killed himself...not too long ago.

I think every death on Disney Property has been a result of guest misconduct (except the incident at DL with the boat & the metal rope cleat). When people stand up or get out of the cars during the ride, its their own damn fault.

WDW-Imagineer is right...MOST of the accidents/deaths that occur at Disney are at the fault of the person who got hurt. and the ones that WERENT their fault..are usually caused by human error (someone elses)...mechanical problems are VERY rarely the cause of death or injury at any Disney Park.

I think that if Disney felt insecure about something of their rides they would change or make it safer with adding for example a lap bar. They won't take the risk of throwing their reputation to the toilet for saving some bucks...They know what they do.
