With Splash Mountain closing on January 4, 2009 - this question is for those going to the Magic kingdom on the 1st through the 4th.

It seems the weather is holding up.. about 60 degrees daily with sunshine. Is that weather warm enough for splash mountain? Also, what do you guys recommend wearing to keep you from getting wet? When I rode last year, I got soaked.

I arrive on the 1st and plan on riding Splash as much as I can before the 5th. I hope the weather is warm enough for it but will ride it even if its colder. I think they might turn off the spray a little on colder days. A poncho may be an option, also the seats may be wet, so watch it when sitting down. Make sure you are sitting on your poncho and not the water. You might stay more dry in the back of the log so you can request that seat if you want. I think we will be ok with the weather though. Have a nice trip!

Yes a poncho usually does it for me. Though I dont wear it, I just throw it over my body when that cannon tries and soak me. For the most part, my technique works pretty well. :animwink:

Though dont count on them shutting off the canons. I remember being there when it was cold and they still had those stupid things on. The only time they are off from my observation, is if the ride had been closed for awhile or something.

By all means ride Splash Mountain! Enjoy it and have fun. It was shut when we visited last February and will be again when we come in January...so go and enjoy it for us!!! :)

Wear a poncho/rain coat, it should work. However, I have to agree with Tim, ponchos are for wimps! Take your soaking and like it.

BTW, the canons were off last week...I still got pretty soaked though.

we rode splash a dozen times last week when we were at WDW. just request to sit in the back row. there was one time that i got splashed just a bit, but for the most part, the back seat will keep you nice and dry.

Who really gets wet on Splash Mountain? Just got back from 10 days and rode it wth my daughter over 10 times. got splashed maybe once. Be a man.

I've been absolutely drenched before on Splash. That particular trip, I was in the front row, got blasted with the canon and had a wave of water wash in on me on the final drop. It looked like I was caught in a summer torrential downpour.

Wave of water? seriously? it is Disney. The rides are fun but not quite extreme.

Rode it several times this past week, got just a little wet from it splashing in from bumping the side and I mean very little but those in front seemed to get a little wetter, appears it was on winter setting:wave: and temp was 78-82 degrees everyday except last monday and it was on 62 chilly degrees:wave:

So it won't be closed on the 4th??? We get there on the third and plan on going to MK for EMH on the 4th. I was under the impression that it would be closed on the 4th??? Can someone clarify this for me?

p.s. I always get soaked on Splash. I always end up in the front! I'm starting to think it's on purpose because of my size. (6'6" and 300 lbs) Do you guys think they do it on purpose so everyone gets soaked?

I'm sad because we don't get WDW until the 9th, and Splash will already be closed. I've never riding the WDW version before. Do you think they might finish the refurb early? We leave on the 15th.

Yep, it literally was a wave of water. Now, I'm not talking about a huge wave that you see at Islands of Adventures on Jurassic Park, but it was a wave of water. My pants looked like someone had poured a bucket of water of me.

You can believe it or not, but I don't think you were in the log with me that day.
