Splash Mountain drop question

Here's a good video that should give you a better of idea how long the drop actually is.
At around 0:22 you get a good view of the drop, and you can see it's not nearly as tall as it appears from the outside.

I can take a rollercoaster, upside down, large drops, love them! Now that I'm older a ride on the carousel or teacups I'm done for the day.

Just looking for some info here. Can anyone tell me the drop angle compared to Jurassic Park? I know that it's 33 feet shorter than JP, but how is the descent angle compared to it?

I conquered my fear of JP (and drop rides) today but I think I saw the "tunnel of light" when I saw our drop coming.

Everyone has said that if I've done JP then Splash should be a piece of cake, but drop rides give me anxiety attacks so to speak. Actually, I just tense up really bad and make a grunting noise. It's hilarious and embarassing at the same time. The indoor dark drops get me more, so I'm just trying to psyche myself up for it.

Oh yeah, Jurassic Park is a far longer drop, and done completely indoors and as you know just a second before T-Rex attacks you. Lots of thrills there. Splash Mountain is tame compared to it. Well, it still is a 52 foot drop, but I don't feel the angle is as steep.

If you really want to conquer your fears and aren't afraid of getting wet (and you WILL get wet) you should have gone on Ripsaw Falls at Universal today. Now that is a steep drop for sure. Believe me, don't miss out on a wonderful attraction like Splash just because of the drop. It is a great attraction, and the theming is great

I was in the same boat as you. I went on splash with the family when I was 6 and was terrified for life. I am a chicken with drops and roller coasters, to the point where I look like a ghost from HM. When I turned 16 my friend convinced me to ride JP and that scared me once again about drops. Until, four years ago a my little cousin said she wanted to go on splash with me. She said she wanted to sit next to me because she was scared and because I was terrified. We went during dusk right before people were lining up for the parade. So we literally walked onto the ride with no line. After every drop she would tell me that it wasn't so bad. I explained its not the little ones I am nervous for it is the end. Once we reached the top I said screw it I am going to do this. (didn't really have a choice :p). I saw the sun setting and saw the a beautiful image of the castle as we were dropping. I had an absolute blast!:D I wish I had the picture because I was smiling from ear to ear.

I say go at sunset or when lines are really low and bite the bullet take a look at the castle.

The only other thing to throw into the equation is the ride "vehicle" for Splash Mountain is much smaller. (Two people across versus
Six people across on Jurassic) I did not feel the drop quite as much on Jurassic as I did on Splash. They are both fun.
