Splash Mountain Creation - Question

Not sure if this has already been discussed elsewhere, but I have a question for some of our insiders. Is the story about the genesis of Splash Mountain (being that it was Michael Eisner's children who saw the model of it on a trip to WDI, and that their enthusiasm for the project gave Eisner confidence enough to green-light the project) true? I've read it in the coffee table books and seen it repeated elsewhere on the net, but I have never heard if it was anything more than an oft-repeated myth.

Michael pushed for a mermaid to be included in the attraction to promote the movie "Splash" that was being released around the same time but it simple didn't fit the theme. Imagineers did manage to use the name in the title however. Haven't heard personally about his children being part of it.

I remember hearing about that story...Shows how much he really knew about themeing for rides early on that he would push for a contemporary mermaid AA in a ride based on 1800s cartoon animals.
