According to touring plans it closes a week to a month (or longer) almost every January:
Wait, dont tell me. I haven't even looked. It starts January 13th. The day after the marathon.Splash Mountain closing for lengthy refurbishment in early 2020
The Magic Kingdom favorite will be closed for most of January and February.www.wdwmagic.com
EXACTLY. You can count on it being down right during marathon time. Clockwork. Our trips are usually in January. I wish they’d do something like alternate January and February.
This has happened, multiple times. Including a death with one incident. Suppose it takes more than that??All it takes is some fool to stand up and get out.

Unless this was before a lap restraint, but I’m pretty sure Splash mountain has always had a lap restraint in WDW.
Rode it in the late 1990s when no lap restraints existed but then safety was not as in the forefront as it is now.I think it was added around 2000, im fairly certain it didn’t in 1998.

Slim chance Splash Mountain will ever get safety lap belts or do we wait until after a major incident?

I would bet there will be artificial foliage installed in that location during the refurb since they can’t take care of real plants/grass there any more.Hopefully they can plant grass after the second lift hill. Holy cow, it’s been months and all that grass is still dead. It looks awful.
A statement made of ignorance. Splash Mountain goes down during the marathon weekend just about every year. Would it kill them to change in 5 days?Well if you know that it's going to routinely be down for refurbishment and want to ride it, wouldn't it be better to modify your date range? Maintenance has to happen and the off-season is when its the least impactful to the guests....
Not really. If it’s common knowledge that this is the timeframe every year for maintenance on a specific ride, them would it kill the guests to start their vacation 5 days earlier?A statement made of ignorance. In fairness, Disney has not once called me about when my travel dates are so they can rearrange their refurb schedule around meA statement made of ignorance. Splash Mountain goes down during the marathon weekend just about every year. Would it kill them to change in 5 days?

I think they should do that for everyone. "Well, based on visitor scheduling, the only time we have available for the Splash Mountain refurb is September 10th between 9:00am and 12:00 pm."In fairness, Disney has not once called me about when my travel dates are so they can rearrange their refurb schedule around me
How accurate are the SM refurb dates usually? Booking trip the first week in March. Thanks for any feedbackSplash Mountain closing for lengthy refurbishment in early 2020
