Spilt Stay and Split Party Questions

Hi Everyone,

I'm going to Disneyworld in December and I have a couple of questions. I will be arriving first to have a few days at the parks at my leisure. My brothers will be joining me 3 days later. I will be staying at POR until they arrive, then we are staying at CS.

My questions are:
Since my brothers and I are arriving separately, what do they need to get from the airport to CS?
Is it possible for me to check into CS without them so I can get my park tickets?
What time does the boat start running from POR to DD?
How long does a luggage transfer take if I drop my luggage off at say 9 am?

My brothers will be arriving midday and I'm trying to decide what to do before they get there. They will be arriving on a Saturday and I've decided that's the day we will do DHS. Since there really isn't anything new there, I'm thinking of taking the boat to DD to explore the changes, but if DHS extends Frozen or offers something new I don't want to miss out while I'm waiting for them. If there is something good to see I would like to grab a cab to CS in the morning with my luggage and go ahead and check myself in so I can go to DHS while I wait.

Since these are my younger brothers (18 and 21) you can imagine I would like to keep control of our information, especially if I want to check in in the morning.

Thanks for the help! I'm super excited for my trip!

i assume these are two completely separate reservations. anytime you make 2 different resort reservations they are considered separate. so nothing from your first reservation affects the second.,
your brothers will receive Magical Express tags in the mail and will be scheduled for the appropriate bus after their arrival, they just get on it and go. assuming you requested ME for them when you booked, if not, call now and add it.
if the reservation is in your name you can check in CS without them present, i think they can even check in without you, although i'm not 100% with that. just do online checkin and all will be ready for either of you to pick up. and your magic bands will all be functional on their arrival.
i can't say the exact timing from POR to CS for your luggage, but there is a set time schedule and your bell services at POR should be able to tell you when it will be there, I usually assume 2-3 PM for delivery, but it is sometimes earlier. if you need anything between 9 AM and 3 PM just keep it with you.
i haven't done the boat from POR to DD in a few years, but i think it's like 15-20 minutes total.

Some very good info above. Here's a few additional points:

Magical Express was covered, but just make sure that your first reservation has *your* arrival info, and the second has *their* arrival info and everyone's departure info. Also make sure that once you get them that you keep the yellow luggage tags straight. You wouldn't want to accidentally use the wrong one and cause a delay in your luggage handling.

You mention getting tickets from the second resort. I presume this means you booked a package? If you booked a Room-Only reservation, you can buy a single ticket that covers your entire trip, even if it's at two separate resorts. Buying two separate tickets of only a few days each for the same trip is a very expensive option.

Thanks for the replies.

To clarify, they are 2 separate packages both in my name, so all the stuff is coming to me. I already have my arrival info on the first package and theirs on the second. I know it would have been cheaper for me to have one 7 day ticket, but the second package was the one I booked first during the free dining promotion and the first package has the room discount promotion. (I decided that I wanted some time by myself at Disney, to take it all in before they arrived)

Another important point is I'm coming from Texas and they are coming from North Carolina. What I really want to know is, what do I need to mail them so that they can get from the airport to CS? I know they will need their luggage tags, but will they need their magic bands or anything else out of the packet Disney sends?

Based on docdebbi's response, if I do online check in do I even need to go to CS to be able to use my park tickets?

At the very least, you should send them their luggage tags and their Magic Bands. You could also send them the booklet that comes with the luggage tags because it includes a map of the airport to help them navigate to the DME counter.

And yes, since the tickets are park of a package, you'll need to go to Coronado Springs first in order to use the tickets associated with that reservation. But if you still have one day of admission from your first reservation that you'd be using for the parks that day, you can wait to go to the second resort until later.
