I agree there was excitement in having Venom come to the MCU, but I don’t think it was to be a pure villain against Spidey. But rather just to join the MCU. Having Venom become a pure villain after being an anti-hero/hero would likely turn off too many fans.
Ideally, they shoud've kept Carnage, another popular Spidey villain alive at the end of Venom 2.
They could still bring back carnage. Maybe venom bonds with Peter for a while and eventually separates from him but a little bit of the symbiote separates from venom and turns into carnage because of Peter’s unique dna. Yes I did take inspiration from ultimate spider-man for this.

Well Brock is in New York at the end of Venom 3. So it would be a natural progression of the story for him to meetup with Spidey. Otherwise you'd have to find a way to bring the remaining little piece of the symbiote from Nevada to New York and have it join to another person and turn evil to become a villain.
Okay I’m confused. I didn’t watch vemom 3 but even if he did end up in New York it wouldn’t be earth-1999 right?
Since seeing this opening night I have never understood the enduring hate. The film had many problems, but not this. This is what you get when an awkward nerd suddenly feels cool and empowered. It's appropriate cringe- the film acknowledges this.

Rumors are that Spidey 4 will also include a bit more of the multi-verse, as Sony say the potential with the Macguire/Garfield/Holland cross-over and saw $$$.
