Spending Money - How Much To Consider

Hello Everyone,

Asking for advice in regards to how much spending money to use at Disney. My son who is 6 and I are going September 1st to the 6th. I opted out of the dining plan and decided to pay out of pocket for meals due to the fact I know my son is gonna pick at his food and not finish everything. What would you say would would be an effiecient amount to bring or how much you think we will spend each day - we are staying at Wilderness Lodge.

Thanks everyone in advance for your help.

Another thing is I don't want to be locked in to dinner reservations except Be Our Guest he is gonna be tired from walking around the parks and may want to hang out at the pool in the evening. This is why I chose Wilderness Lodge they offer qs and sit down. There is no way I can keep a meal schedule with a six year old.

It seems like you have already gotten some good advise and will adjust your schedule. I agree with the other people that if your child won't eat much I wouldn't book a lot of buffets. Also unless you really want to go to Le Cellier I would skip that as well. Not much fun for a 6 year old and I thought the food wasn't that good. There is a nice quick service restaurant in Japan if you need a break but France's boulangerie is also very good. If you don't have many ADR's you can play it by ear and not waste money on TS that won't get eaten.

One quick thing on the TS. When we go we always take the afternoon break and start the second part of the day with dinner reservations, usually at 5:30 or 6:00. That way you can avoid the "difficult planning" that others seem to dwell on.

As for where to go? Just check the menu and see if your son will like something or be willing to share? Don't forget about the appetizers, you may be able to order an app for him and share one of your sides like fries or mashed potato's.

Try the calculator at distripplanner.com to see what you can expect to pay out of pocket for those restaurants on those dates (or just check the menus online to get a good idea of the pricing). It's meant to allow you to compare the cost of DDP vs. out-of-pocket, so you can just ignore the DDP figures. The calculator assumes one entree and one drink per person (plus whatever desserts or appetizers you add) and will use kids' menu prices for kids and adults' menu prices for adults.

Agree with everyone. The other thing to consider is the park hopping takes time too and can take away time from the parks. With just adults it can be fine but I know with my kids its likely to exhaust them. we won't make reservations at 2 different parks in 1 day. That way even if we are planning to hop over to a park but change our mind, run late it's ok.
