Speedway has got to go

Yes, and that’s the way it is with just about every company…Walt developed the system that incorporated sound with cartoons and then developed the multi plane camera, but he wasn’t responsible for every innovation in Disney’s early days…in fact, it was his imagineers that turned his ideas into reality between the Worlds Fair and Disneyland. No one ever said Elon walked around the labs at Tesla or Space-X with a lab coat on doing the actual work. That’s the sign of a successful CEO…you surround yourself with great minds and great people and bask in the glory…that’s how it works.

I would take ownership by an Elon Musk, Warren Buffet, hell, even Jeff Bezos at this point compared to the clowns and BoD we have in Anaheim right now…

From my many years experience with life and dependency on people to do the right thing comes the phrase "The grass is always greener on the other side" or in the words of the late, great, Erma Bombeck and closer to reality, "The grass is always greener over the septic tank."

Given its location between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland just turn it into Sugar Rush Racers. It's an IP so it would make Bob happy and it would give the ride a big enough face-lift to attract those who have stopped riding it. Switch it to electric cars and they could probably Lightning Lane it for a few months.

It should be replaced with something like Tokyo's Aquatopia. Still get to ride around and stuff. ok, maybe not so freely as Autopia but then it's not really like you can really go off and explore in an Autopia car either. literally just stop and start.

I think with some kind of water addition there it'd be a nice way to cool off plus i think the space would suit the tomorrowland vibe better.

Well, in my years of experience going to the parks, I think I can speak for many on here, that the grass IS greener…Chappie is spraying the grass with Round-up and replacing it with really cheap astroturf…

No, he just did a really bad job maintaining the grass and stopped fertilizing it…
I think there was a very logical reason the the grass was dying, as I recall, around the Hub, people used to walk and sit and lie down on it, basically killing the grass. Fertilizer with small children and toddles running about would also create a possible health hazard. Astroturf seems to me to be the only logical way to keep it green and safe for everyone.

You’re not getting what I’m referring to…you brought up the theory about the grass is always greener…I just took your deflated ball and ran with it…I’m not talking about real grass…😀

Til a child pulls a piece of astro turf and starts sucking on it anyway lol.

Speedway is a celebration of the gas engine... the thing that is hurting the environment, makes the area smelly and loud, and undercuts the theme of "Tomorrowland."

Let's get TRON Racers which would look so cool next to TRON.

And the track can be re-lengthened by adding an elevated loop.

The electric cars don't need to sound like they're revving like gas engines... that defeats the whole purpose of electric cars. But they can have other sounds programmed in to sound like they're whooshing (rather than pathetically puttering).

The electric cars could be programmed to keep the racers 'on the rails.' Think Smuggler's Run in which the 'drivers' have some control of the ship, but not full control. So, while the racers could be steered by someone competent, it becomes more and more self steering for the 3 year old just slamming the steering wheel back and forth.

I feel it could be saved with some more themeing and updated vehicles. Make them electric, and theme the course more.
Electric and then add sound effects to each car. Make the effects different for various cars but at the very least electric cars that could deliver the same speed across them all. There is nothing worse than being on the speedway and getting stuck in a car that is on its last legs, or even worse being behind someone in a car that can barely go. Frankly if they went electric the pedals would no longer require the same amount of force to push so when you stuck some little kid in one their leg wouldn't get tired and they would be able to go full speed the whole track instead of getting tired and resting their leg randomly on the track.

Aquatopia is really underrated IMO. Its such a fun ride and would make a great fit in florida as a way to cool off a bit as well as keeping the sense of move in tomorrowland

But...but...the 1971 mini Corvette bodies attached to go carts that go slower than the average riding lawn mower are perfect, and should never be changed according to the masses. 😉

I would have no issues with it being upgraded somehow. Personally the smell on the Speedway is something that makes me thing of WDW but I understand why people dont like it.

Is it just me or is the speedway the most tackiest part of magic kingdom......it's not fun to ride, it's just such a waste of space, and it doesn't fit in with the land theming.....I really feel it needs to go. Is there any rumors about it going?
It's YOU, why do we need to get rid of all the ORIGINALS ? seems to me kids like it.

I happen to LOVE the smell of gasoline right out of the pump…hell, it was my first job at 14…I know the writing is on the wall, and I HATE that center rail that makes EVERYONE drive like they’re DUI, so a refit with Tesla sponsored cars will be a positive…it’s a people eater and a guest favorite…so I for one look forward to a potential change.
