Special Request For Grand Floridian

Hi,

I have my honeymoon booked in the Grand Floridian for two weeks in December. I would like to ask if it would be possible to book a king room in the main building as a request. What is the best option to do this? Is it to phone the hotel directly? I also want to book MVMCP too.

Thanks

Mark

We honeymooned in GF in 2007. We didn't know any ins-and-outs at the time for special requests. We did, however, mention during our reservation process that we would be on our honeymoon.

We took the ME bus from the airport, and a concierge met us at the bus dropoff to hand over "honeymoon" pins for us to wear throughout our stay. The concierge then gave us a short tour through the main building, then out one of the doors and past the pool, and directed us to a concierge building.

We were upgraded (for free) to concierge since we were on our honeymoon. :D It was soooooooo great!!! There is a common area where they have some breakfast items each morning, and "tea" from 3-5pm each afternoon. "Tea" was very nice -- not just cookies and tea. I drank quite a bit of champagne during "tea time" on some days. haha

Also, on the first night, we returned to our room to find a personal note from Mickey and Minnie congratulating us on our marriage. I think there was a rose (or a couple) and some chocolate covered strawberries too. :slurp:

I would definitely mention that you will be on your honeymoon, and see what they can do for you. Good luck, and congratulations!!

If you didn't book a main building concierge room then you aren't going to be there. Not sure what the King room situation is like in other parts of the resort.

It can't hurt to call both. First call the reservations... trust me they are awesome. Be sure to ask if there are any perks you can add or if there is anything they would suggest to make your trip more magical. Then call the hotel directly... they might be able to help you as well. Although you can't expect to have concierge treatment, you can see what they do have. It can't hurt to ask :)

You can't call the hotel directly, you get a call center. Only calls that they can't handle are actually forwarded to the resort.

The call center can handle 98% of all calls.

I've called a ton of Disney Hotels directly. I just called three weeks ago and spoke to the loby. You can get their numbers right online too.

They make it seem that way. They are all screened by a call center who answer with the hotel name until they determine that the call must go to the actual front desk.

As the pp said, you are getting the call center who pick up as though it was that hotel. There are very few external calls that go to the front desk.

If you didn't book a Royal Palm rooms for the main building then you won't be there. Sometimes they upgrade for honeymoons but only to the Sugar Loaf which is still an outer building. If you really want to be in the main building then you need to call Disney and book it. Royal Palm rooms start at $815 a night during your visit.

We were lucky on our honeymoon. We booked just one night in the main building since the price was so high and then we planned on moving to the outer building. After we had packed everything up, and were moving, the conceriege caught up to us, and said he was working on upgrading us for that room the remainder of the week. We were able to stay in a King room with castle view for the same price as outer building. It was awesome!

The resorts do have their own phone numbers and you can call them directly.
Does it make a difference. Not really.
Most of what can be done is when you are actually checking in.

I've been in the call center....sigh.

A resort's front desk staff is not large enough to answer the volume of calls that come in.

Hi there! My DH and I honeymooned there too. We did not make any special requests but they did upgrade us to a Magic Kingdom view room. It was very special!

Yes, the resorts do have individual, published phone numbers. They're all routed to the call center. The CM answering the phone knows which resort you called, so they can answer "Disney's Animal Kingdom Resort", etc.

All of the rooms in the main building are club level. That's a bookable room category, and can't be added as a request. If you didn't book club level, you would need to call and change your reservation (and pay more).
