Special meal

So, just over a year from now we will be visiting again. It is a very special visit this time as it will be for my dad's 80th birthday, my 40th birthday and hopefully a bit special for my sister. A number of months ago, my sister was diagnosed with incurable cancer and it has been a very difficult time for us all. One thing she wanted to do before the seemingly inevitable happened was to return to Disney with my young daughters and the rest of the family (she loves them like they were her own and they adore her!) We are very hopeful that she will be able to come next year as things have stabilised a bit and the doctors are hopeful she will be around for a couple of years yet. What my wife and I are hoping to do is plan some extra special activities and experiences for her and the rest of the family to really make it a holiday we will always remember and look back on over the years. Due to the nature of her treatment, there are many restaurants that we may not be able to visit (buffets are a no no unfortunately) and we were wondering where the best restaurants would be. We are on the dining plan and so have lots of options, we just want memorable and would welcome any words of advice. Many thanks in advance

I just wanted to mention that most if not all of the buffets will accommodate special requests if you contact special diets ahead of time. I’ve been through my share of health issues and I was often brought food that was completely off menu in order to accommodate my medical needs. All of the Disney owned restaurants are pretty good in that respect. Best wishes to you and your family. Have a magical trip!

Not dinner per se, but maybe a fireworks cruise? You can get a private pontoon boat that includes snacks and soft drinks but they can upcharge you (surprise!) and provide a meal on the boat as well. They start at $300 for a boat that seats 8 (with the snacks and soft drinks).

Is the buffet restriction due to immunocompromise? If so, then of course steer clear. But since she apparently has other dietary restrictions, it makes it difficult to recommend specific restaurants. Just about every restaurant will work with you to provide a safe meal for her. I would look over the menus of the restaurants that look interesting to you. Make a list of the ones your family likes the looks of. Food preferences are so individual that it's really difficult to recommend for someone you don't know. As for your sister's dietary needs, have a look through this :. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/en_CA/en_CA/guest-services/special-dietary-requests/

It includes contact information for the Special Diets department.
