Spanish Pal Mickey Coming to the Magic Kingdom Park on October 5
09/26/2003

BAY LAKE, FL (Main Street Headlines) -- To support the Walt Disney World Resort's ongoing commitment to creating personalized, one-of-a-kind magical experiences for our Guests, the Pal Mickey product was introduced in April.

To further this commitment, Spanish Pal Mickey will be introduced on October 5. He functions exactly as his English-speaking counterpart does, sharing Park tips, fun facts, jokes and playing three different games. He will certainly enhance the Guest experience by acting as an interactive tour guide and companion to our Spanish-speaking Guests.

Spanish Pal Mickey is available for rental or purchase at the Main Street Cinema at the Magic Kingdom Park.

great! :sohappy: i grew up in puerto rico, and even though i'm bilingual, it'll be nice to have that option. shake things up a bit every so often, and to compare the jokes and tidbits, since they can get a bit stale after one hearing (or so i've been told).. also, some of my friends are struggling mightily to teach their children spanish, and this might be an option to encourage the kids, if only for a day or two. :)

You'll find out soon enough that the Spanish PM is crap with the jokes. Comparing the two as far as jokes go, well that is a joke. Mainly because of the whole fact that some of the words in English dont have an equiv. in Spanish, making some of the jokes in Spanish more stupid, or even obsolete.

Either way, its still a good idea. My guess is that they'll continue to develope more of them for other langs. more than likely japanese will be next, but thats just my 2 cents.

that's too bad! i've heard disney translations before and they've made an effort to make it unique. when the literal translation wouldn't do, they would just write something new. i'm sure the translators noticed that it wasn't making sense. for something so expensive, you'd think they would have made an effort to make it as good as the english version. oh well...

Well, as for the Spanish PM, on my part, I tested him when they first were working on him, so the translations weren't completely correct. This was back in July I believe so a lot has changed on him...I hope.

Spanish from where? Spanish from 'Puelto Lico', Spanish from Spain, Spanish from Argentina, or Spanish from México? Hopefully one of each! :animwink:

I hope it's Spanglish, like the way my mother-in-law talks. :)

Spanish Pal Mickey has arrived
10/01/2003

LAKE BUENA VISTA (Eyes and Ears) -- A Spanish version of Pal Mickey, the new interactive guide and companion for Guests traveling in the theme parks, recently joined the Ears to the World, Disney's Show Translators (DSTs) as another offering for international Guests. Unlike DSTs, Spanish Pal Mickey offers information and trivia outside attractions, not translated descriptions of individual attractions.
Once Guests take him home, Spanish Pal Mickey can play three interactive games and tell jokes.
Spanish Pal Mickey is available for purchase or rental at the Main Street Cinema at the Magic Kingdom Park, the Camera Center at Epcot, The Darkroom at the Disney-MGM Studios and Disney Outfitters at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Spanish Pal Mickey is available for purchase only at Once Upon A Toy at Downtown Disney Marketplace.

There's no charge to rent a DST, but Guests must leave a $100 deposit that is refunded to them when they turn in their headset at the end of their visit. DSTs translate attractions into French, German, Japanese, Portuguese or Spanish.

Now put that in a huge add in Spanish or you will get a lot of visitantes encabronados. :animwink:
