Spaceship earths british accent.

It's funny, I remember Tomorrow's Child, but not a lot of the Cronkite narration.

The ultimate, of course, would be Irons, reading the Cronkite script, with the Irons ending, while Tomorrow's Child.

I prefered Jeremy Irons and to be honest, the first time I heard Judi Dench's voice, I really didn't like it. But it's grown on me. You need someone with a very imposing voice. I'm slightly surprised they didn't get Anthony Hopkins - they should have had Samuel L. Jackson. Imagine how classic that would've been.:ROFLOL:

I would be in favor of a voice over by the GEICO GECKO Duckberg

"The Most Trusted Man in America"

I wonder why they felt the need to switch away from him in 1994...Just for something new?

A whole new generation of visitors coming into SSE without knowing who Cronkite was. He had been retired for 13 years from the CBS Evening News by then.....:(

I guess.

But Iron's voice, while perfect for SSE, wasn't readily linked to a face, which almost seems to be a step down from Cronkite.

I actually prefer that Irons and Dench are somewhat "anonymous" narrators, in that they don't receive an actual introduction by name the way Cronkite did.

I think the real star of Spaceship Earth should be the show itself, and not have a "star" narrator.

While there were only minor changes to the actual script when switching from Cronkite to Irons, there was a big difference in delivery, which contributed to the dramatic change in tone of the whole attraction.

The 1994 Spaceship Earth was much more mysterious, much more of an adventure you were participating in, whereas the Cronkite version comes off more like a live action version of a science class flimstrip. It's a more passive point of view and experience.

The 2007 version seems to be trying to blend the "on an adventure" feel of the Irons version with the "watching from a classroom" feel of the Cronkite version, and because of that I think the overall tone isn't quite as successful as the Irons version because I liked that sense of mystery. Now we're back to getting a history lesson.

I honestly wonder if the Imagineers went for that "EPCOT Center History Lesson" angle when they created the new version...With the rumored and wanted return of Tomorrow's Child to the ending, it seems that they wanted to take the 86 Version and bring it back with a modified Irons script.

Maybe SSE 4.0 will take us back to the Irons version. :D

I sincerely hope not, because let's face it, their version of history could use a little work....:)

Was that a quincidence or is the accent a long lived spaceship earth trait?

If it was narrated by this:

THEN it would be a quincidence...

What's wrong with it?

If you look at the newspapers, the headline reads "Civil War Over!" Well, there were very few papers that actually referred to the conflict as the Civil War. It was either a "Rebellion" (in the North) or a "War of Northern Agression" (in the South). Just one of those things that irks me. Which is why I usually proceed straight to the Rose and Crown for a pint or two...or three...or.....

Well, that's a given. But how many people know about those terms and those names? Unfortunately, most don't seeing that people don't study their History.

But in EPCOT, in this instance, I think it's fine- like I said- Distory, it gets the point across.

I agree, and like I said, it's a small point that I only bring up if asked. Unlike some I'm not going to rush to the nearest poor CM and berate them over historical inaccuracies with a ride built before they were probably born. :brick:

But, my liver and brain cells do take a beating. :D

The only thing that bothers me now is the change from "Islamic" Scholars to "Arab" Scholars.

There's a difference there, and since when was "Islamic" not PC?

Since 9/11/01 and the onset of the "War on Terror."

And I don't necessarily agree with that change either.....
