Spaceship Earth very busy today - using overflow queue

Are the lines like this all day, or just in the morning. It always seemed to have big lines in the morning and taper off to no wait after dark. Is this still the case? We always went after dark, beacause there was never a wait.

The bottom line, and the absolute fact is, a single snapshot in time of an attraction que does not equal data.

I felt that way with the silly picture of a seemingly empty que of SSE a week or so ago… and the current picture(s) really doesn’t prove the opposite, either. There could be many, many reasons a line for an attraction is short, and there could be just as many reasons the line is long. It is hard to tell what time of day it is, although the shadows give us some clue. There do appear to be a lot of kids in the line, maybe giving some validity to the spring break theory.

One thing is crystal clear, though…there are in fact a lot of people in that line, and that is a very good thing.

No kidding. It's funny, though. Both groups claim the moral high ground, then both resort to the same tactics (comparing last week's thread with this week's for the eerie similarities). In both cases, the "proof" is meaningless and fails to advance the argument.

What I find more interesting is how Steve slyly (finally) gives his opinion about one "(in)famous" poster...

Why are remarks like these allowed without comment by the forum's moderators?

We respond to what is reported. We all have jobs and families and don't get a chance to read everything. There are over 50,000 members, thousands of posts made a day, and only 4 of us.

We travel the same time every year (the week *after* P-week), and crowd conditions are pretty consistent from one year to the next. Normally, by noon, SSE is a ghost town. This year, it was actually a 15-minute wait well into the early/mid-afternoon on both days we were there.

So, my anecdotal evidence is that the new version is doing a bit better than the old one did. My kids also thought it was an improvement, as I've mentioned elsewhere.

SSE is actually in a really bad spot for any traffic after people have entered the park. Once you pass it, it feels REALLY out of the way to go back and hit it again. I would imagine that's why it's not usually crowded mid-day.

not to go too off topic, but they've still been tweaking Judi Dench's narration, adding something things in and taking a few things out. So far they haven't taken out thank the phoenecians or back up systems.

They've also used a different recording of her saying "networked, online, etc" at 180top, it's much more grandiose like how she says "grand and miracualous spaceship earth" ......also in 180top they have remixed the soundtrack with more emphasis on the chorus, and better mix of the music.

Judi no longer says "for the first time in history all of us....blah blah blah"

No she says "networked, online, etc" we hear the safety speil and then head backwards admist new chorus and louder and mixed music. Very well done! :sohappy:

This isn't damage control - it's fact. It IS Spring Break, and the crowds ARE there. Hence why the parks are open extremely late for the next 3 weeks. You can't judge the percieved quality of an attraction update based on higher than average crowds due to a holiday - in fact, I doubt 90% of those people even know there was an update to the ride. It's also erroneous to claim that the large lines are due to the result of people being pleased with the update - the real test would be if these people ran back and rode it again, which I highly suspect they are not.

This topic was rather misleading and probably was mis-worded. I know Steve meant well in posting it, but it's incorrect to make any connection between Spring Break crowds and Spaceship Earth's success (or lack there of). Let's wait 3 weeks and see if the crowds continue.

I'd also make the argument that if Spaceship Earth wasn't as bad as you feel some people are making it out to be - then Disney would not be putting in the effort to constantly fix the dialogue and other aspects of the show.

Gotta love the damage control by the SSE refurb haters.

"Oh, it's spring break...there's more people so that's why there is a line..it's not like they like the ride..."

When will it sink in that you might just be in the minority on this one?

If they have the dialogue there to "fix" that would seem to me that they recorded variations at the offset and are in the process of making a Directors cut type change. Similar to their soft openings of every attraction, no?

However if lines are a indicator of success then maybe we can finaly get rid of all that sentimental guff like CoP, Hall of Presidents, IASW theres hardly ever a line for them even at the hight of summer.

.

Just reporting the news as it happened. I think Spaceship Earth using the overflow queue is pretty unique and newsworthy. I personally havnt seen that in a long long time. Make of it what you will. :)

I've seen lines this crowded at SSE years ago when I used to go down to Epcot during my summers. I'm not surprised that its this crowded during Spring Break.

It's still better to go towards the late afternoon since you can usually walk into this ride with no lines
