We're still expecting SSE to re-open before the end of the year aren't we? I was watching a video, think it was Digital Dan, that said it would re-open next year. It may have just been a throwaway assumption in his part and I don't think there has actually been any officlal length of closure announced, but has there been anything else that could suggest either a quick or lengthier period of downtime? Everyone so far has been of the opinion it's a quick refurb. Starting to panic now as my trip is early December!
I feel like early December would be a tight timeline even for a simple refurb but not impossible.

Although there is always the chance that they surprise us this weekend with more information about this closer and the scale of the project.

The official word is that it will reopen later this year

Cr@p. How long will SSE be closed now????

It will be worth the wait if they get rid of the touch screens, remove the scrim and restore the scenes on the 2nd half of the ride. 🤞 🤞 🤞 🤞
Not at this time. We will likely have to wait a few more years for that.

Disney continues to get a lot of mileage out of the COVID excuse.

I wonder when they finally open the scope cut cars and villains stuff in MK will they blame COVID?
There are generally only five cut or scope-reduced announced things that get blamed on COVID, including 1) Spaceship Earth, 2) Mary Poppins, 3) PLAY!, 4) Celebration Gardens + Festival Center, and 5) the 50th celebration. So mostly EPCOT. Anything else was merely a delay or resultant gap in development activity. This is an accurate characterization of what happened. Stop acting like it isn’t.

Also, scope cuts are normal, especially when things are announced early in development. No one will point to COVID if they happen to obviously cut things this time around, because even if the cuts are more severe than is typical, they will likely be more obviously attributable to either regime change or economic downturn instead.

That’s true. Disney does not need an excuse for scope cuts. It’s standard operating procedure for todays Disney company.

Aren’t you bored yet ?

It must be exhausting constantly being a negative nancy on a random interned board.
Not bored. And I do sprinkle some positivity in sometimes. For example I loved the addition of TRON to the MK and I think it is in the perfect location. A lot of folks say it hurts sightlines but I am not bothered by that.

I love the TRON canopy and the lighting and the ride is great.

of those things, I am grateful SSE and Mp did not come about as previewed. I want to see both eventually but in the hands of competent visionaries. Play!’s lack of utilization given how much work went into it feels terrible wasteful and a pivot to IO/IO2 makes too much sense. Celebration Gardens/Play Center/50th are embarrassments.
