I don't know if anyone out there can help me,but i'm trying to find out the name of a piece of classical music that is played on Spaceship Earth at EPCOT.It plays as you turn into the Rennaissance era (with Micheal Angelo painting the ceiling) and it lasts for about 20 seconds! After countless visits to Walt Disney World from the UK,i am no closer to solving the answer myself,so have joined the forum in hope that someone can help me! Thankyou!! :animwink:

Welcome from another Brit!

The SSE `94 score was recorded especially for the attraction; I thought all of it was based on the same score, which was Sinfonia 02 in C Major by Bach; or more specifically a variation on it by the Japanese artist Tomita as "The Sea Named Solaris".

That`s it. Like most great classic attractions, the base theme music is presented in a variety of ways.

Hi there if you get the "Four Parks, One World CD" there is a song on the 1st CD called Spaceship Earth its about 10 min. long, I believe that is what you want. THis CD by the way is the greatest...You can get it at Amazon.com or try Disneyshopping.com, or simply put in the name of the album in the brouser and it will come up. I love this CD....
Hope this helps. : > ) Lucille (PS I know how it is when you have a sound in your head & you can't find it)

Careful with your two-year thread bumps, now! The OP was asking about the ride score back in early 2007 before the ride closed to be overhauled. The music on the current Walt Disney World CD album is from the current version, which has a completely different score written by Bruce Broughton. The 1994-1997 score was never released commercially by Disney, and can only be found through sources like MouseBits.

No offence or anything, but "The Sea Named Solaris" was actually composed by Vangelis and NOT by Isao Tomita (most famous for his electronic variations of Holst's Planet Suite).

I'm sure its been mentioned many times before, but you can download the music of SSE '94 from mousebits.com. You can get the the whole ride with the music and Jeremy Irons or just the music by itself.

You might want to check your facts before you wrongly correct someone: "The Sea Named 'Solaris'" is a piece by Isao Tomita based on "Three-Part Invention No. 2 in C Minor", BWV 788 and "Ich Ruf'zu Dir, Herr Jesu Christ", BWV 639 by J.S. Bach. It was included as a track on Tomita's 1978 album "Kosmos." "The Sea Named 'Solaris'" is not by Vangelis. That is patently ridic. Furthermore, if one were to check any Tomita biography, one find that Tomita has a broad base of work; it is unlikely that anyone knowledgeable about Tomita in any rudimentary way would say that he is "most famous" for his version of Holst's "the Planets."

It would be interesting to know if there is any support for the assertion that "The Sea Named Solaris" is by Vangelis. That's the great thing about the web. Anyone can say anything. I should know: I invented the internet.

Wow, that's really neat. I always assumed it was written specifically for the ride.
BTW, if you do a Youtube search for "The Sea Named Solaris" you can hear the whole thing. Same goes for "Ich ruf' zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ."

What about this one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWsRWbYhAmo&feature=related
I've always wondered where that tune comes from. They played something like half a dozen variations of it as you move through the "Renaissance" scenes.
