Spaceship Earth construction history

Does anyone have a good timeline on the construction of SE? I was having a conversation re: our visit back in 1977 and I was convinced that I saw SE at that time from the MK monorail before EPCOT was open. I've searched online about construction and wonder if that's just something a then 7 year old made up in his head. I know it took about 26 months to complete but that still doesn't quite put it back in 1977.

Just curious if anyone has any additional info. Thanks.

Sounds like you're mixing up two memories, a visit in 1977 and a later one when the new monorail line had preview runs through the still under construction park.

Yep. The park took three years to the day from ground breaking to opening. You wouldn't have seen anything visible of SSE until late 1980, and even then you'd have had to be in the actual site!

Monorail previews of the new park ran in the summer of 1982 (running anti clockwise) with a stop on the station platform outside the nearly finished park.
