The wall at SPACE has been pushed back.

It's the same height, but now the pathway from Wonders to Test Track is open and Future World East now has regained the feeling of massive size that it was lacking.

I can't wait to see it. I wish it was ready now. My family and I are going to be there 8/24 to 9/2 (1night all star music , 3 nights port orleans riverside and 5 nights polynesian). I can't wait to ride mission space but there will always be a place in my heart for horizons. too bad we can't have both , huh?:veryconfu

I don't like to think of it as "Too bad we couldn't have both..." because SPACE really of fit in many other places in the park - it was originally intended to go elsewhere. Horizons just couldn't stand any longer.

So, instead, I feel it better to say "Too bad Horizons couldn't of lasted longer..."

Why were they able to move the wall back? Was the area finally determined safe from construction, or mabey just because they were done fixing up that 8 feet?

The 8ft is literally the old walkway that was always there.

Strangely enough, the concrete has some etching and accents in it, which appear to be part of the larger whole, what of though, I haven't the foggiest.

Things i recall: A few small circles, and then carved out lines forming a point which came from under the wall.

It's simply an avante garde design motif (and a nice touch) that reflects and carries through the whole "Swirling" design of the attraction itself. If you stand back and look at the whole thing, it serves to draw your attention forward, and keeps the entry area from just "starting"... this is more gradual and subtle.

Is it possible that maybe oneday they will bring back Horizon's in another building? I hope they can oneday find a spot somewhere else for that amazing ride!!!:)

If you peer around the current construction wall, there are these little holes in it from the door handles and such...and you can see inside. It looks amazing in there; I took some pictures from in there yesterday and will have them developed shortly. There was a new sign going up near the entrance that had the traditional 'bag' over it, as well.

>>>It's my understanding that virtually the entire ride (Props, AAs, ect.) was destroyed.<<<

The AA's weren't destroyed, and probably most of the props were saved. Set pieces were almost certainly entirely destroyed. All AA's are kept for future applications and recycling, and props, if they have any kind of "specialness" to them, are often put into storage. Disney recycles all kinds of things... parade pieces (the spitting camels) from the ALADDIN parade at Disneyland became props at the Magic Carpet ride in WDW's MK.

A few pieces from the old Horizons attraction will be seen in MISSION: Space.

As much as I'd like that to be true, a good amount of classic "Horizons" props and characters found their way to the junk heap. It has a repuation as being the one truly "dead" attraction because very little was saved.

To clarify, this is because Horizons wasn't really an AA spectacle like WoM but rather a lot of characters were "dummies" and the props in many cases were the sets.
