There will be a launch of the Space Shuttle Atlantis on November 12th (so excited). How is the view from the World?

It is visible but no where near as spectacular as being at a much closer location such as Kennedy space center or Space View Park.

Here is an image of a launch from MK.

Very cool! We have tickets for the Backstage Magic Tour that day or for sure we would go. Tickets go on sale tomorrow.

I'd just like to add my two cents...I live here on the Space Coast and have grown up here my whole life and am still in awe of the space launches. If you are anywhere near central Florida when a launch goes off, I'd recommend you try to get close to Brevard county as you can. Even if you don't come all the way in town (it does get crowded) the launch is really neat when you sit and think about what you're witnessing. You can see it from Orlando, but it does not do the launch justice. (only problem with trying to come to see it....it does get postponed ALOT)

That picture of the shuttle over Magic really doesn't do the event justice (as was said, it's amazing what you're watching). It's really neat to watch. The only pity is that the Oct. 27 Ares launch or the Nov. 12 shuttle launch aren't gonna be night launches, those are the coolest.

However, don't bet everything that the shuttle will launch on Nov. 12th, they've had to delay almost every shuttle launch this year.

Someday people will back on this, our thrust propelled vehicles with all the fire and flame, as ancient and crude.
Magnetic propulsion is the wave of the future.
Silent, effective, no blast off, just go.

IMHO

I live all the way over on the West coast of Fla. just South of Tampa Bay and I can still see the shuttle launches pretty good from over here most times. If it's really cloudy or hazy I usually don't get a good view but most of the time I see them...

I so want to go back down and watch one.
I am 0/4 this year in shuttle launches. :( Scrubbed on multiple days.

But waiting on a small pier in Titusville for 7 hours was actually pretty fun. Then, getting an update on my phone saying it was scrubbed just prior to 9 minutes and counting mark was not fun...

I look at shuttle launches like sporting events. You go there with the intention of seeing your team wining at the end but if that does not happen you still had fun at the game. When you go to a place like Space View there is sort of a festival atmosphere that is quite entertaining. The waiting is half the fun. Even if the shuttle does not go up you still had fun waiting for it.

Yea, it was a great experience either way. I just would have loved to see a sunrise at 1:30 AM

We were way out over the water in front of the crowd. Fantastic, unobstructed view.

Thanks for the info. I have a friend that just emailed me last night saying he was going to see it on the 12th, so I was able to pass over the move date info.
