Space Mt. is my favorite ride and it seems like when I think about it at home i am so excited but when I get there waiting in line I become so nervous for it to come, I was wondering if this sorta thing happens to you guys too? Do you just love a ride but when you get there become SO nervous? Any personal expierences on Space Mt. would be awesome to here! Any good stories would be awesome to read regard Space Mt.

For my family we get one Veto for a ride in WDW.... my brother and mom both choose Space Mt., I just can't understand how they love Rockin rollercoaster and TOT but can't go on Space Mt. LOL

When I think of Space Mountain I get the feeling of trying to cram myself into my seat. They're not exactly the greatest seats for tall people. I understand what you're saying. I get the same feeling when I listen to my TOT ride audio. I get so excited, I just wanna jump on the ride.

I rode Space Mountain last year for the first time in YEARS. It's extremely nostalgic. The music, then the atmospheric noises, and the hollograms on the wall. . . something most of us here have been raised with.

The post-show is also nostalgic. However, I think these feelings I have for Space Mountain have more to do with my experiences/company when I rode the attraction. . . otherwise, I don't know how fast I would have clicked.

It's now a must-do on every trip. :D

The feeling I get from Space Mtn. .....anger.
Anger that the once proud icon of Disney thrills and excitement has become an aging, rough, bumpy, slow, dirty, dated, sad excuse for a Disney coaster.
Sorry, that's just how I feel. I've been on almost every Disney coaster in existence, and Space Mountain at WDW is probably my least favorite.

They can do SO much better. :fork:

Calm down, Lee! Space Mountain will be changed in time. . . we just gotta wait for some rowdy Pirates, singing Dolls, and hopefully a Carousel family to have facelifts. :D

My favorite feeling during space mountain has to be during the pre-show. I don't know what it is, just when I was a kid everything looked so real, all the astroids and stuff through the windows, walking down the big, white, cold, hallway, and the music, everything about it just gives me one of those really really framiliar feelings. When I was little, I actually thought i was in outer space! Personally I do think it's a crappy pre-show, but just something about it always gets me excited and pumped up to ride space mountain lol!

I agree completely...

Space Mtn. is still a fun ride, but there is potential for SO much more.

Yeah, I know.
Just a pet peeve of mine.
Maybe Saturday at the meet, I'll just go over and give the Mountain a good kick...

Man, I can't wait to ride Space Mtn. 2.0 at DL next year. Maybe I'll kidnap Al Weiss...take him with me to see what he needs to do at MK. :animwink:

I always feel like that on the thrill rides. I know I've been on them many times and I love them, but I always feel nervous once I get in the queue. It's a good kind of nervous, though :)

You've a point...

And as for the original post, yes... Even though TOT is a cinch, the theming and the queue and everything always manage to get me good n' frightened before I "check-in"...

Yep, TofT for me.
It's not so much until I am in the shaft, waiting for the drop to engage, and my mind is running a million miles a minute, thinking about all the things that could possibly go wrong, but then that only really lasts, what, about a minute, and then the drop sequence engages...
It's funny, but that feeling is what makes me love the ride so much, but at the same time fear it a lot too...guess that's why it's a THRILL ride!

Space Mtn may be old but it still elicits a feeling of excitement every time I get in line. I think about the nostalgia and history surrounding the ride as well and it makes me amazed at how long it has been around. Very cool!

I think in general this is a huge part of the Disney experience for me. It's not just the rides and such, it's the complexity of the whole place. How does everything work? How much time has gone into building everything? What kind of planning goes on EVERY day? As an engineer I marvel at all of this. To me that is MAGIC

ToT always gives me that feeling of excitement. I've lost nights of sleep because of that thing. I enjoy it though, and I'm fine after the first drops.

Space Mountain, IMO, is the roughest ride at WDW. It's really fun, especially on E-Ride Nights. I could tolerate a smoother track and bigger seats though. Still a WDW classic.

that i won't go on in TOT any tips 2 make me feel better i am sooo scarred.........!!!!!!!!

ToT is really not that scary...

When it first opened, I admit that I went on with some trepidation. However, now, It is just thrilling.

Remember, the drops only last about 5 seconds anyways...

Our family has a fun Space Mt. memory. Christmas trip of 1998, we were riding Space and having fun waving our arms back and forth going "heeey, hoooo" (we weren't bothering anyone, we had the cars to ourselves). As we got off we were laughing and screaming and the CM said that we had such a good time, we should get a chance to ride again. He took us down a hallway and to the front of the line and had us stand in front of everybody in line. Then he said that if we wanted to ride again, we would have to dance for the people. We danced, the people laughed, pointed, cheered and jeered, and we got to ride Space again without having to wait in line. This was a big deal since this was before the existance of FP and the queue area was jammed with people in all of the weaves.
