The term "Space Mountain" doesn't really make any sense to me when I think about it. Are there mountains in space?

The Brady Bunch also went there in one episode! It was the one where they go to to a theme park because the dad had blueprints for a hotel for the park, but the blueprints got switched with a poster of an animal, so the whole family runs around the whole park looking for it, meanwhile Greg hits on a girl and Bobby and Cindy eat too much food and get sick. :D But that was in the 1970s. The park is much different now that Paramount bought it.

Ok, heres the deal about Paramount parks: Just like Six Flags, Paramount bought a few parks across the country, but none of them are alike. King's Island and King's Dominion are slightly similar, however.

All the paramount parks:
Paramount's Great America (California)
Paramount's Carowinds (South Carolina)
Paramount's King's Island (Ohio)
Paramount's King's Dominion (Virginia)
Paratmount's Canada's Wonderland (Canada)

I think WDW should get the six seaters like the ones in DisneyLand, but the 3 seaters are good enough for me.

I agree! I have also wished for years that they would rip out the two tracks and replace them with a longer, single track. But from a return on investment (not to mention crowd control) standpoint, I suppose that wouldn't be too practical. It would be a helluva ride though!

I woudlnt' ever be praying for that day! :(, My favorite coaster is Space Mountain and always will remain... It would be pretty hard to do anyways, and i dont think thats the main thing Disney is planning on doing is to take down Space Mountain anyways, Its a big attraction there, and its making pretty good popularity still... :)

It would be tough. They would have to remove the precast roof sections to get a crain in there to change the layout on a major scale. If you seen any RnR construction photos you'll notice they constructed the track first then built the building around it afterwards. I belive they did the same when they were constructing SM in 74. I think I remember seeing track inside when I was watching them raise the huge precast ribbed sections of the roof in place one afternoon durring christmass of 74 from the top or the contempoary( Awsome view for an 11 yo in love with the Magic Kingdom.

Yeah i agree, It would be too hard of a project, Anyways Disney has no reason to.. That attraction is a big hit. Although if u didn't take the roof off, u would have to customly melt down the steel, Other rides such as Space Mountain Paris, and Flight of Fear, The Buildings were constructed first, IM sure if they were to take it down. (Which They wont) They would probably custom melt down the steel.... and taht would be a big waste. And a waste of money to take off the top of the roof and melt down...

You might be right when you speculate they would have to open up the show building to re-do the track. However, I do know for a fact that when they initially constructed the attraction, they did construct the building first and then installed the track afterward. I'm just thinking how cool it would be if they utilized all that space (no pun intended) they have by making it one long track instead of two. But as I said before, I doubt they would do it because it probably would not be cost effective or practical.

I love Space Mountain too. Don't get me wrong. But I hate the fact that I basically have the tracks memorized now. It would be nice if they could change the track layout but still retain the current feel of the ride (maybe make it a little smoother though).

I recently saw a pic of the boneyard just north of the Contempoary where they put the subs from 20kL and other miscelanious vehicles from closed or refurbished attractions, I noticed that there were a fewof the old SM cars lying next to the subs

In some ways i know where your coming from... Thats pretty cool that u got the layout memorized. I have rode it 563times and i still dont know them yet.

Yes, i think your right i can find u guys some construction photos of Space Mountain... The site to the top, they did make the building first. Just like alot of the others, But RnR was made first then the building... It makes the ride alot greater though since they built SM's building first....

I highly doubt they will take down the old 2tracks for 1 ride,
1.) Its too big of a problem, and would cost alot of money for nothing.
2.) They would not do this to an attraction that is already getting a great amount of capacity.
3.) If the next ride SM was 1 ride in that building u would have plenty of Space left, even after constructing the ride.

One More Small Thing...

While I, too, would love a longer Space Mountain ride, I would not enjoy the extra line that cutting the ride's capacity in half would generate.

Can you imagine? HALF the trains and capacity PLUS a longer ride? I'd never get to ride the darned thing again!

:)
