Space Mountain with the house lights on Video!

I remember the lights going on on us as we were on the Blueline. I could swear there was brown carpet on parts of the wall, it was hilariously fun.

Great video! With the lights on there are so many headchoppers when you ride Space.

Veering slightly OT, I just love how idiotic the majority of youtube commenters are. This video's comments are great examples of what I'm talking about:

", that's all it does! What a shame, Disney."

"the one in paris is much better- it goes upside down."

Sure. Just ask nicely if they wouldn't mind turning all the lights on just for you.

cool video. first i thought it would be another vid from the people mover. Ive never seen the ride like that before and i have to say it looks and feels much better in the dark! i can see why they want a refurb.

Got to ride it with the lights on during a CP party when I first started, it was one of the scariest things I've ever done, especially when you are at a really steep angle and it looks like there is nothing below you except mangled steel and concrete. Also, when you are actually there certain segments seem a lot closer to you in the light than they do in the dark.

Though, it's still going 25 mph it's freighting as all get out. I think my head stayed down most of it just so I wouldn't feel like I was going to hit it. My friend Brian is 7 feet tall and he said it was the last time he'd ever ride SM.

P.S.: The acctual track looks like a cheap carny coaster from afar. But is pretty innovated.

we were there last friday and the lights came on. we had just gotten through the fast pass line and were the next to board when all of a sudden the lights went on. it was pretty cool actually. we saw these people go up top to go work on something and some people who had been riding came out from a side door. they said that the cm had to push the cars to the end. lol. the cast members handeled it really well. they went around to everyone in line explaining what had happened. the guy said that someone took too long to get off the ride and if the timing gets off then the ride shuts itsef down or something. we had to ait a little but longer, but it was worth the wait. here's some pics!

While this is in French on You Tube, it is the only tape I know that shows the inside of Space Mountain in Paris with the lights on -- it shows some of the Paris tv commerical, then the outside of the launch tunnel; followed by some shots of the interior with the lights on of the upside down loops and the corkscrew, and then he explains the launching mechanism. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EWNrEIVUZY&mode=related&search=

Aaahhhh....a ride worthy of the Space Mountain name.:sohappy:

At least it was...before the lack of maintenance made it a head-banger. And the theme change...no need for that.

I was so close to getting a lights on ride on Space Mountain at DL. I was out of the actual station and getting the visual check of the restraint before truly getting dispatched into the tunnel when the ride stopped and all the lights went on. One train earlier and I would've gotten the elusive lights-on ride.

My dad and I got to go through with the lights on in 1983. It was cool, other than we had to wait in the launch tunner (with the lights blinking) for about an hour first.

It does look like your standard carnival shakey coaster - I think its better no one see it in daylight :dazzle:

Neat experience though.
