If anything, I say and have always said that they should remove one side of space mountain, seeing as it is two parts, and put in a ride like Superman: the escape or whatever it is at magic mountain, the one that goes really fast, goes straight up, gives you those moments of weightlessness, then send you back down. That would be great.

Sorry but i have to totally disagree there. There is no way they would ever do that. there wouldbe no theme whats so ever. and the only thing I care to see from the road would be the castle. not some superman ride sticking out up in the air like a sore thumb. Disney is about theme, there theme gives u the thrill. :-)

I was used to Space Mountain in DLP. Did it up to 40 or 50 times.
I must confess that Space Mountain at WDW was a big disapointment( hope i spelled it correctly). No loops, No corkscrews. But i think they should leave it this way, including the bumps and the fear to get off the track. It's a part off the magic.

One of the unique parts of MK is the lack of "upside-down" rollercoasters. WDW is a family park and doesn't need these types of coasters. Unfortunately, Disney broke that idea with Rock 'n' Roller Coaster....

I wouldnt say disney broke any idea on this ride. If they would of not of had the building over the coaster. then I would say they broke the idea. Could u imagine that ride without the building. :-(

The debate on Space

I have to say that I do like the classic Space Mountain compared to the Disneyland Paris version. Its fun with the lift hill, the jarring, the tunnels, the fast curves, the darkness..even the pure camp of the queue area with the giant chocolate chip cookie "asteroid" projections.. I don't think they should replace it..Its just fine the way it is..How bout a new version right next to it? We can call it the Space Moutain Range (yeah, like that would ever happen...or maybe...naahhh)

New version next to it??? Where exactly is there space to put a new space mountain. If they were gonna do that, it would have to be pretty small.

If you refer to the picture posted by Now Inc here you can that the only available space is across the railroad tracks, across the river in that wooded area. That's assuming there is nothing there already (storage, etc.)

Actually, I originally thought your idea of putting a new one next to it was stupid, but the more I look at the picture, the more I can picture another Space Mountain there.

Economically speaking...it would be much cheaper just to tear out the old ride and put the new one in its place. Not to mention that the insurance on such a dangerous ride like space mountain is probobly sky high...and a new safer ride system would definatally save them more money in the long run.

I keep questioning my contacts about the re-make of space mountain...and their vauge answers seem to speak louder than words.

We might as well realize that a new SM is completely financially out of the question. An update or rehab maybe, but not a new ride or building.

It would be nice though... :(

Just because a ride is new doesnnn't mean it is safer. The fact that these newer rides are pushing the limits of technology and construction materials, makes me wonder how long it will be until we have a serious incident.

It's interesting to see how little people's opinions have changed. And notice how Now Inc got it right - he said "within 8 years" - right on the nosey!

How many are still here?

It's interesting to look at how many of these people are and are not still active...

It looks like a much calmer/happier place...
