I see that I am late to the party with this thread 12 years old, however I built one myself. If anyone is still curious as to how these windows work here is a sketch on the one I built.

It must be in a dark or low lit room like the star tunnel to work

I may be late to this party but I've wondered how they did this effect since I was a tot. This diagram is helpful! When you say "concave glass", is that a mirror?
