Space Mountain Question

Greetings everyone,

I'm not sure if this topic belongs in this section of the boards, but I'll give it a shot regardless.

Since Space Mountain's just re-opened, I have a question about it thats been bugging me for quite some time. In the star tunnel scene in the queue, the visitor is able to see several windows with stars that pan from left to right (depending on which way you move). My question is, how is this trick accomplished?

I've read about the Pepper Ghost technique, but I'm sure of how this neat effect works.

That's how they do the trick in Space Mountain. I've actually never really considered it to be a very impressive illusion because you only see the object if you're looking through the window at a certain angle, and even then it never really looked quite right. I have heard the windows are still there after the refurb and I was actually surprised to hear that. It just seems so dated.
