Space Mountain question

I have been told that there is a "dark" and "light" side to Space Mountain. Basically, the "light" side is the same as the dark except you go through it with the lights on. Is this true? Heck, I was just there a couple of weeks ago, and I didn't see anything about no "light" side.

Nope, the ride area is one big room (like a sports arena) both sides are in the dark or both are in the light.

This is funny......I was on a website just yesterday that said the right side was the "faster" side, and the left was the "tamer" side.

Yep, it's true. I have experimented with both sides. And I came to the conclusion that the left side is a lot quicker than the right side. It also jerks you more...Try it out next time and you will see.

There's no light side that I know of. Both tracks are exactly the same, except they both go in opposite directions. Personally, I think the right side is a smoother ride...much more relaxing. Gotta go left...much more fun. :sohappy:

There may be no light side, but you can ride it in the dark. I was on the TTA last time I was at WDW and we went past Space Mt. and all the lights were turned on and I couldn't believe how close the beams are to your head. I don't think I could ride it in the light.

you know. I those beams scare the heck out of me!!!!! you can kinda see them in the dark. Any one know how close they really are? I mean say your really tall and have long arms? Im guessing nothing would happen but they do look close! I would love to see that ride in the light...............anyone got pics of that???????

I think I might have started a confusion here... I interpreted "light" as meaning slower. Not literally bright lights. haha...

I have experimented with both the right and left side of the ride many times. The left side is a lot quicker than the right side of the ride.

Does this clear things up???

no because antione the thread starter literally meant light. you may have anwsered her thinking one side of the ride being rougher than the other but...hey this thread is going good and has me thinking about those bars being so close..:animwink:
lets go with it.:)

I am not sure how scientific your experiments were, but your results are incorrect. With the exception that A side is 10 feet longer, the two tracks are identical, therefore giving mirrored but similar rides. I am not saying one is not rougher than the other, but the speeds are the same.

Shaq has ben on the ride without incident. Tall people can ride. I am not saying it is impossible to touch parts of the ride, but as long as you do what the warnings tell you to, you will be perfectly fine. Besides, when was the last time you heard someone getting their arm cut off at Space Mt? Never.
And for those pics, if you search the internet, you can find them...or just make frineds with a T-land cast member!!;)

I don't know which side it is, but one side is definately faster. I am almost positive that one side has a slightly longer drop for its biggest drop and it does go faster. I think it is the left side but I am not sure.

Both sides have that red tunnel. This thread is really getting rediculous. There is no such thing as a dark side and a light side. Both sides are always in the dark unless they are doing work on it which would mean both sides would have the lights on and the ride would be closed. Nobody rides Space Mountain with the lights on unless workers are testing it or the ride breaks down in the middle of your ride and the lights go on.
