Space Mountain Opening TV Special

Neat! Thanks for sharing. I always enjoy watching their older TV specials, when they tried hard to express how much WDW has to offer and that your time shouldn't just be spent rushing from attraction to attraction, fastpass to fastpass....

I just want to come back about this and state that..We will never see specials like this again..With how technological everything is now a days it makes you feel like that with random songs and dance numbers that don't really reflect what is relevant to the show (Case in point a special that revolves in the Grand opening of Space Mountain) makes it even better to watch. The days gone by where comedians and musicians come to celebrate special events are dead..And if you saw this years Christmas Parade all you can see is celebrities "acting" like they are having fun in front of the camera but what you don't really see is the wad of money that's dangling behind the camera for them to be Happy. It's so sad..

I had some time to look through the special and I have to say there are a few things that surprised me..

1) I have never seen so many people sitting out in the grass at Poly..They were Everywhere!

2) Tommy Tune is Friggin tall!! Him doing random dances around the World..Call it your first Where the Hell is Matt. And watching it made me try to figure where he was especially in rides where they would have you banned on what he's doing.

3) It's awesome to see the park in it's early years..Especially seeing The Fort Wilderness railroad in action..

4) Did anyone notice that when they started to sing & dance that people just went walking through not realizing that a big musical number was starting to happen until maybe 3 or 4 minutes into the songs...funny stuff!

5) Space Mountain eve....Really? And a party/dinner in Carribean plaza? Man what special event ticket did you have to get to that? But, then again having..Lucie Arnaz, Lyle Waggoner, and Tommy Tune be your hosts...I would probably just go eat and then run over to PoTC for a few rides..:ROFLOL:

I do have to say that it was a good special to watch and yes many jokes are silly but hey! It was a different era and as I said it before I'm glad to have been a part of those years. We will never see stuff like this anymore...So live it up today..All in the past..

I leave you now..With another gem The Grand Opening of Walt Disney World!

It might have been Jack Wagner as he also did the character voices for the parks in the early years.

I do know that Jack Wagner also did Donald and Goofy, not sure which others he did. Wagner also chose the theme song for the Main Street Electrical Parade (Baroque Hoedown), though he more likely chose this for the Electrical Water Pageant's original theme used from 1971-1977, since MSEP didn't come out until almost a year later (it debuted at Disneyland in 1972 and at WDW in 1977).
