i can’t help but imagine this movie will be as weird and preachy as the Tomorrowland movie.
Such negativity… anything can be great… just need the right people… I always try to remain neutral until I watch… at least until I see a trailer… then see how much it raised my interest… even then anytime I watch something I will try to check my expectations at the door

You say “negativity”, I say “experience”.

Why?

Are these rides IPs even that well-known? Even with those that know them, it's not an association that really translates. "That's a roller coaster at Disneyland." Or, "Remember when you waited 1 hour to go on a 3 minute roller coaster? Want to see a movie that stars the Rock that is set in space and not a rollercoaster ride?"

I don't get it. Even though we had the success of Pirates of the Caribbean. That was a genuinely good film and would have been a success without the ride. That doesn't mean Space Mountain couldn't be great, but there's just even less to draw influence on. To the point where it'll have nothing to do with the ride, relying on the IP name which won't matter to if it's a success or not. For reference see the films which weren't good that didn't do well named after rides.

It's probably going to end up being a largely unrecognizable sci fi film with the occasional "I've seen that before! I know what that is!" moment.

So, basically, they're doing Lightyear again. Except with something that, outside of the building itself, has much less iconic imagery.

The short answer is creative bankruptcy. At this point it's pretty much all they know, remake and rehash. Maybe there's a stellar idea here. But after jungle cruise and haunted mansion, I'm going to have to say no. The best I can think to expect, is a film that I watch on streaming and say, I guess it wasn't too bad.
