Space Mountain movie?

I was just reading an article on a wrestling website about The Rock's appearance at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony Saturday night. At the bottom of the article it mentioned that he is filming his latest movie Space Mountain in Las Vegas.

Has anyone heard anything about this?

but what if they did make a space mountain movie? i wonder how that would work. i wonder what it would be about? pirates was easy to come up w/ a story, and so was haunted mansion, and when i think of a jungle cruise movie for some reason that terrible movie anaconda comes to mind. i guess cause they r on a boat going down a river. but space mountain, i wonder how they could do it

I think it was much easier to create films for Pirates and Haunted Mansion because of their already established storylines. Producers either adapted (HM) or inserted the movies into the existing canon (Pirates), so a limited amount of out-of-the-air creation was done. Thats not to say that the development of each of those was simple or effortless, but it was far easier with fan-proven elements from the attractions to be expanded for the films.

Space Mountain doesn't really have a storyline (or at least it hasn't had a definitive one since the closure of Space Mountain TV). Consider it a wild ride through space, but where else does that put it on its own. I picture Space Mountain to be a central location or aspect of a film, but not the basis of a feature itself.

They could always use the new concept for the Tokyo Space Mountain where the mountain is some type of alien civilization ruin. I may be wrong on the exact idea, but that is somewhat the idea of the ride.

I believe it was Jim Hill that mentioned that Disney registered domain names related to a Big Thunder Mountain movie and not space mountain.

The Disney Enquirer posted back in February that Disney registered the following domains:

BIGTHUNDERMOUNTAIN-MOVIE.COM
BIGTHUNDERMOUNTAINMOVIE.COM
THUNDERMOUNTAIN-MOVIE.COM
THUNDERMOUNTAINMOVIE.COM

Too bad that site's not updated much anymore. It used to be a good source of information for domain names that Disney was registering.

Technically neither Haunted Mansion nor Pirates has a storyline. They're a series of vignettes. Many Epcot attractions were the same idea, the ide of a continuous storyline not really emerging as the regular mode until Unversal Studios and things like Body Wars at Epcot (note how TV's in queues were the rage at that time - quick and easy ways to convey the pre-story and establish the plot).

You could make a strong argument that the Haunted Mansion movie didn't have a plot either. ;)

I think regarding the rock's movie its a simple mistake because the film infact is a disney film and its called return to witch mountain.

They could always go with the Jules Verne idea from the Disneyland Paris version. The ride shoots you from a cannon before taking you on a journey through space. There could be something in that maybe.

Wait, so we're getting an E-Ticket (Witch Mountain) and the Rock comes out of the mountain ala the Yeti to scare us?

Cool!

I'm just kidding

Is this Return to Witch Mountain a remake? Me and my sister were brought up on Escape to Witch Mountain and Return to Witch Mountain and we just loved them! Is this the same thing?

It's called Race to Witch Mountain, so I'm assuming it's NOT a remake.

Possibly a continuation of the same storyline...

so you know i watched the hall of fame sat night. Ric Flair was inducted and one of his sayings was "i'm like space mountain, i might be the oldest ride in the park, but i still have the longest lines." So i am sure that Dwane "the rock" just got confused and said the wrong thing almost like a roast to Flair

I've just looked up Race to Witch Mountain and Escape to Witch Mountain. The plot lines look very similar, the main characters in both are called Tia and Tony and I read that it is a remake of Escape to Witch Mountain but more modern and reworked from the sounds of it.
