Hello guys...
Im a HUGE fan of Space Mountain and I've been reading a lot of articles about its history and fun facts, but pretty much I find always the same things like what is its speed and there are two different tracks and blabla. I was looking more for some different information, you know? Like cool facts that maybe only a cast member could tell about the ride, and specially, what is its storyline? There's always a story behind when it comes to Disney. All the details there?
Do you guys know any fun fact like that to share? Id love to know!

ps: I've searched for a thread like this and I couldnt find any. So if theres one already and you can help me with the link, I'd appreciate it!

Thanks!

No storyline in Orlando. Originally you could see what technological marvels RCA were making and potentially could make for the future but aside from that it's always been a rocket ride on a coaster in the dark.

And omega had a particularly troubling piece of track that had to be replaced in 1976.

The best Space Mountain articles that I've read are interviews with late Imagineer George McGinnis on the Mouse Planet site.

He does separate interviews for WDW and Disneyland. A very good read.

The music playing as you walk in (and in the star tunnel) originally had lyrics:

When was that? I love the space mountain soundtrack. It's sooo awesome. Gonna listen to this one. Thanks!!

I'll definitely read it. Thanks!

Thanks everyone that replied here. Last month I kept asking questions to a cast member that works there. She didn't know own much about the ride's storyline, but because she saw my enthusiasm with the ride she gave me a voucher to get a free merchandise in the store. I got a space mountain shirt. I was soooo happy with that. Haha and also she let me skip the line abd ride it again. *.*

Here is something that you would never see. In 2009 while Space Mountain was closed for renovation. They cut a hole that was visible from the People mover. Here is what it looks like inside.

We've come so far was introduced in 1985 along with RYCA -1. It was a vocal version of the entrance area loop that still plays today.

Prior to this it was versions of the RCA theme that played in both pre and postshow areas.

Foxxy posted a wonderful mix of the whole 1985 theme, including the rare RYCA-1 instrumental version plus a none distorted vocal version:
