Space gives its nod to Horizons

Mission Space has a little tribute to Horizons. I noticed the Horizons symbol in the middle of the gravity wheel. So next time you get a chance to go on...look at the center of the gravity wheel to see the Horizon logo.

 That's right... A dandy little tribute it is... (although I would have liked to see (or hear) more references to Horizons based on the media that Epcot Guests have recorded thus far in M:S's short open history)... :D

I heard that they were going to have part of the background music from Horizins in the background music of M:S (the "Space" track). Is this true?

No it would violate GE copyright laws.
The music for MS Space is totally different.
Did the sponsorship agreement with Disney and General Electric deal with the music being a GE copyright? I have always thought that the music Disney use(s)(d) in Epcot (Center) was copyrighted by Disney (Wonderland or Walt Disney Music Co.)

Disney did not use the Horizons musical theme in M:S only because Disney decided to create an original score for M:S one better suiting the "real life" ISTC theme...

Eh? :)

Do you guys not understand that GE didn't OWN anything related to horizons? They didn't get exclusive intellectual rights to the logo or anything. Its completely unrelated. End of story/rumor.

When it comes to lighting GE is light.

Where is that picture?

It’s really funny to think that since Horizons by GE has been gone the MS Space ride is making homage to it.

Horizons Presented by GE was truly one of a kind.

Okay now let’s get into full gear and ride Mission Space hosted by HP.

I agree, Nim...it could have much more heart if they put some Horizons music...or something that has more of a 'meaning' as far as score goes. That is, if they're not going to put vocals...

I'll have to look for that symbol, Rob! Thanks for the scoop...

As for GE...they produced several issues of HORIZONS magazines...and were pretty proud of it! I have a few issues myself - plus, GE was marked all over the place. - much like CoP, actually...

I, for one, was deeply sadenned when Horizons was torn down. I understand that the main reason was due to the structure of the building falling apart.

I have not ridden M:S yet but I would hope that there would be something more about the old Horozons than just the Logo. There are many of us Horizons fans out here.

Horizons

Alas Horizons was my favorite ride. I never knew about the lounge. I did go to the one in the Land. I know that Eticket rides are what Eisner thinks are the only things people are interested in. And sadly enough I am afraid that may be true. But what made EPCOT Center different and my favorite are the rides that tried to teach you something or entertain you, like Horizons and World of Motion. Not rides that ether made you wet yourself from fright or bring up your lunch from new ride technology.

Long live Horizons. I think of you every time I smell oranges.
