Space 220 question

Hello All,
quick question about space 220. We have an upcoming trip in September and we usually do one or two really great dinners. One of our favorites is the boathouse so we can't give that up and we really wanted to try space 220 really for the experience. I'm reading mixed reviews on line.
I thought about doing Le Cellier or Shula's steakhouse as the second which bumps out space 220. I know space 220 has a lounge, can you just do the lounge, have a few drinks and do you still need to chase down the elusive ressie for the lounge.

TIA

Hard to say what September will be like but as of now it's still really popular so I think generally reservations, even for the lounge, are strongly recommended. The reservation finder services might be of help - that's how I managed to score one last trip. That said, it's my understanding that they do sometimes take walk-ups for the lounge, probably more likely at opening vs. dinner-time. They don't do a walk-up list on the app (currently) so a physical line forms. I have done both the prix fixe in the dining room and the lounge and my preference is the lounge. Although we did the dining room pretty early on and I've heard that the food has since improved significantly. It wasn't bad when we had it, but it wasn't what I'd put in the category of "great." Oh, and I've heard there is a secret drink menu in the lounge, which is fun.

Shula's is by far the best option of those three for quality of food.... The theme is pretty cool or space..... You couldn't pay me to eat at Le Cellier

I'd try to get a reservation for Space 220 lounge during an "off" time (not standard mealtime - mid-afternoon, or late evening), just for drinks and snacks and to enjoy the "experience." Plan and enjoy your actual dinner at the Boathouse.

If you can't get a reservation, my understanding is that the lounge does take walk-ups for seating at the bar, as available, and that would be another option if your party is all over 21 and doesn't mind sitting at the bar rather than at a table.

We did the lounge on our last trip and already have the ADR for our next trip. Highly recommended to do drinks and appetizers! The service, food, and drinks were all excellent. An ADR is recommended but as already stated, you can do a walk-up for the bar, but you'll need to be there quite awhile before the opening at 11:30, as they only have 7 chairs at the bar (if I remember correctly).

Just a FYI, the walk-ups aren’t necessarily restricted to the bar, you can get a table in the Lounge. It just depends on availability.
