Spa Etiquette...

Hi everyone, longtime reader and first time forum poster.

The wife and I will be taking a quick three day vacation (No kids) at the Grand Floridian Vacation Club this weekend and I've decided to take advantage of the spa including getting a massage, so my question here is what is the etiquette in a Disney spa when getting a massage? Normally I get a massage at home from the masseuse in my doctor's office I usually get into my birthday suit and lie down on the table covered by a sheet but being this is Disney I assume they don't allow their guests to get nude so will it be just in my boxers or do I have to wear a bathing suit? Also what is the normal tipping for use of the spa? I usually tip 20% (Pre-Sales Tax) for my massages at home.

Thanks in advance.
John.

Welcome aboard.

With regards to your questions, I've no idea. However, by bumping it back up to the top of the Recent Posts somebody may notice it and be able help. Failing that, give Disney a ring or drop them an email.

It's just like a normal spa. They leave the room, you get under a sheet. At every disney spa I've been too, usually there is some relaxation area with hottubs, steam rooms, etc. that require a bathing suit to be in before the treatment, so it would be super uncomfortable to be wearing anything during the massage as that would mean you'd be stuck in a soaken wet bathing suit during the treatment.

My MIL, cousin-in-law, and myself were treated to a morning at the Senses Spa across from GFV on Valentine's Day this year! We LOVED it! But we had nothing else to compare it to considering this was the first time for all of us getting pampered!

Here's how our morning went:
-Arrived 40 min. before our scheduled massage (50 min., thank you very much DH), and got checked in & paid.

-Escorted to the ladies' locker room and were given time to soak in the hot tub (bring the bathing suit obviously).

-Spent 20 min. soaking, then took the rest of our time getting into our robes (your choice to go FULL birthday suit or leave on 1 undergarment).

-Hung out in the quiet waiting room and waited for our names to be called.

-Got the most relaxing 50 min. massage (you hang up the robe and climb under the covers discretely).

-After the massage, you're given some time to gather yourself and make your way back to the lockers. There, you can relax for as long as you want, even hop back into the hot tub if you wanted!

We never felt rushed and left feeling so relaxed and serene!

Heading for the great escape.
Im sure they wont be offended by you in your birthday suit, they will have seen it all before, probably in larger proportions admittedly.
